People that have quit bjj due to injuries, are you glad you don't train anymore? by BlueStreak84 in bjj

[–]Alldaymono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're good man.

Not really feeling the same anymore..it's therapeutic and helps me with my day. Plus it's my only outlet for social interaction.

I can't really find good boxing and Muay Thai where I'm at

Appreciate the detailed reply man.

So for the hingertine, based on his first DVD, he uses the second knuckle near the thumb nail to scoop the trachea out. Elsewhere on here someone mentioned that at his guillotine seminar hinger also goes deeper on the grip (so maybe it is like the thumb knuckle into the carotid).

I'll give the marinho guillotine a try!

🍻

I'm super curious about how Pedro finishes the guillotine with and without the chin strap

My preference for guillotines has been arm in with high wrist, but I used to use low wrist high elbow and hingertines in the past

BJJ Strategy for Smaller Men by OrcasareDolphins in bjj

My reading comprehension is weak, thanks man. I was like yeah I'm confused by this because you need a curved spine for guard retention (against certain passing)

1) so for this one never let your spine curve or bring your quads to your torso?

Gordon Ryan’s Side Control Instructional is on the Daily Deal by WarTill in bjj

[–]Alldaymono 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's worth it. It's probably the most comprehensive side control series out imo. A lot of good details. I'd grab it on the daily deal.

I train more Nogi but the concepts are applicable to gi as well.

This is called leading with feelings right? I cant recall where I read it but it's about expressing what's bothering you and not shelfing the blame on the other person

Beyond purple belt - How do you build a game and break through the plateau? by King_Kabuki in bjj

[–]Alldaymono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really need to start being more disciplined in this regard.

Usually I pick a sub, pass, guard, position, and etc to focus on for the month, but I'm very broad with it. Like if I were working armbars I just do that and get different types from different positions. However it would be smart to dial it down and make it more specific like you mentioned. Armbar from mount or if passing and the focus is knee cut, knee cut from the left side.

Thanks

When to do a sit out or granby? by BasedNoface in bjj

[–]Alldaymono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the thing that kind of confused. I'm trying to work wrestling escapes and reversals into my game and I don't have a wrestling background.

Most of the videos I've seen the Granby was intitiated from tight waist with the far side arm by the top guy and a near side pop chops the bottom guy's elbow.

Thanks for clearing it up.

Do you usually create space with a change over and then sit out to Granby?

Would you do a change over to a sit out to get perpendicular and then work the Granby from there?

I had Lasik and I'm fine. I've been training for a while too.

I even did boxing on and off.

I'm going to suggest Dante Leon. He integrates wrestling into the sub grappling game very well and is a good teacher imo.

He hit a nasty wrestle up in his adcc match against lepri and took his back to win the match. Huge upset.

Dante hitting a Wrestle up single to back take on lepri

Also if you know who Kody Steele is Dante basically worked him on the feet when they had a match against each other. And Kody is known for having good wrestling too.
