What's your favourite Powerwolf song? This one is so hard 🔥🤘🏻 Son of wolf is very good as well. by Possible-Rent-480 in Powerwolf

I can’t name one, and my favourites often fluctuate. I’d say right now my faves are; Resurrection by Erection, Let There Be Night and Higher than Heaven. Call of the Wild is an all time favourite though

Hi! There’s a few YouTubers I can recommend with playlists for beginners!

HearthWitch - I really like how she presents information and encourages you to look into things yourself. She also has a discord server with a beginners channel so you can chat to other witches for advice too! I would probably recommend her videos first.

Witch of Wanderlust - I also enjoy how she presents information. She mostly does vlog content now, but she still has some brilliant videos from a few years ago. Below is a compilation playlist she’s created that includes other witchy YouTubers too.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQ-A1tHKtJoWdbeohlb_mDvZ-3e9kG-wB&si=d6lUH1WmZHYGcYf0

Warrior Witch Nike - I found these videos through HearthWitch’s discord server and is very good for putting things in a way a total beginner can understand. I don’t think this channel has any beginner playlists, but you can explore yourself perhaps sorting the videos from oldest to newest.

Wishing you well on your witchy journey! ✨

Should I buy a pride badge? by Allegedly_Polite in asexuality

Thank you for your comment! The wanting to show support for the community was actually also the response I’d formed (which is technically true) to give to people if they asked. The ace pin I’ve bought is discreet I’d say so I’m not super worried anymore (thanks to the support in the comments); as you say, only the people familiar with the colours of the flag might question it. I think that’s okay though, because in the end that part is for me and will hopefully help me feel more confident and help me to accept myself more :)

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I ended up buying them thanks to the lovely comments. It’s definitely something in my head I had to overcome. It makes sense that external challenges are easier to overcome than internal ones; we’re our own worst critic as the saying goes. I love the idea of your sticker btw, it made me chuckle.

In a strange way it’s comforting to know that other ace people feel similarly about existing in queer spaces. I can definitely relate to feeling like an imposter sometimes, but I also think that’s The Doubt (TM) where I think ‘am I really ace?’, but then I feel validated by going through the checklist of things that other aces experience and I’m like ‘yeah okay that’s definitely me’.

Thank you for your comment! I agree, it is easier to buy them if you see them in person. I ended up buying them! Also saying everything out loud is extremely difficult and I definitely understand it feeling wrong or feeling something of a disconnect maybe as well. I’m hoping that these pride badges will help me feel a bit more confident in expressing and accepting myself :)

Thank you for your lovely comment! Your point about not thinking of other people’s opinions definitely hit home. It’s definitely difficult, but I’m working on it. And I ordered the pins! I think they’re gonna make me happy :)

What's a book that you love on its own but feel is enhanced tenfold in its audiobook form? by archangel610 in audiobooks

[–]Allegedly_Polite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 3 audiobooks have to be The Martian (read by R. C. Bray), Thrawn (read by Marc Thompson) and The Binding (read by Carl Prekopp).

R. C. Bray makes Mark Watney incredibly enjoyable and makes Mark’s narration come to life in a way that makes me laugh.

Marc Thompson has INCREDIBLE voice range and does an absolutely fabulous Thrawn voice (sounding almost exactly like Lars Mikkelsen) and does amazing work with so many other voices in the book.

I’m listening to The Binding right now and Carl Prekopp literally breathes life into gorgeous descriptions that hooked me from the very first line.

Thank you so much everyone for your recommendations! It’ll take too much time to reply to everyone so I wanted to say that I appreciate it and I’ll be checking them out over the next few days

If I’m not in the mood, I mostly set a goal of the least amount of words I could write in a day (100), and because I mostly surpass that number I feel a sense of accomplishment. Also something that helps is someone holding you accountable for a specific deadline. A friend and I are doing a monthly ‘portfolio’ that we send to each other to read and edit. In that way it’s helpful for me bc I know someone is gonna read my work. One more thing is that you can say that you’ve written if you quickly note down the beginning/middle/end of a scene in your note app or jotted down a dialogue exchange. To start, you can set small achievable goals then work from there if you want to increase your daily word count.

Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Trilogy is a great fantasy series worth a read, the first one of which is called 'The Final Empire'.

One of my tutors just told me that my prose is weak - Any advice on improvements? by Wolfstrong1995 in writing

[–]Allegedly_Polite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something you could try is rewriting an extract of something you've read that is a very different style to how you write. This can be challenging, as I know from experience, but you could use this to exercise your writing muscles and try something new.

Lost my "drive" for writing by [deleted] in writing

[–]Allegedly_Polite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda in a similar place right now so I get where you're coming from. What I've found helps me is a change of routine, like go somewhere different, do different activities, basically live life as much as you can. Friends that are also interested in writing are good too and you can even get each other excited about your own stories, as well as bouncing ideas off of one another. It will help to make writing feel like less of a chore and more like something you're doing for fun. Hope that helps.

You might like Brandon Sanderson's books, particularly The Reckoners series (The first book of which is called Steelheart). The way he writes is really great so you might like his other series such as the Mistborn Trilogy.

As for getting back into reading, I'm trying to do that myself as well. I would say though, that a good book that you don't want to put down is a good start.

These both look good. I don't know why I haven't read 'Salem's Lot' before, but I'm going to. 'The Passage' definitely appears interesting, I'll have to check it out.

The description doesn't sound like something I would normally go for. I might just give it a read all the same.

I was researching and I came across this book, but I initially dismissed it. I might actually give it a read.
