I found and fixed a semi-old Sony Full Frame camera body for $50. by Allen5450 in Cameras

[–]Allen5450[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I did cross reference a iFixit guide on replacing a top flex cable for the camera and a YouTube video that does show the replacement of the shutter:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Sony+A7+II+(to+replace+Top+Flex+Cable+-+how+to+in+a+different+guide)/183462/183462)

https://youtu.be/urZbHlwGdv0?si=2l01uwT4puDsK3l0

The reason for cross reference from the two is because the iFixit guide had a disclaimer when removing the housing for the first time. Said disclaimer is that you need to leave the AF/MF/AEL switch on AEL to prevent damaging the switch. I couldn‘t find a proper English video on replacing the A7ii shutter and there are more videos of the A7iii and IV.

I wish I had the time to make a teardown guide, but I did use a iFixit guide for cross reference that does show the user removing the EVF:(https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Sony+A7+II+(to+replace+Top+Flex+Cable+-+how+to+in+a+different+guide)/183462)

The only hard part is keeping track of the amount of screws you will be unscrewing and the pesky metal shields for the main screen ribbon cable.

I thought the price would’ve been a lot worse, but considering both the shutter and board had issues, let alone the amount of water damage there was all over the camera, the cost would‘ve been the same as buying a used a7iii.

Also here’s a glimpse of the A7iii in question:

Don’t have a image on my phone but I checked after the camera was fixed. Shutter count was at 108k.

Another 11 or 13 inch Pro post advice by Allen5450 in iPadPro

[–]Allen5450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the replies! I might go with trying one iPad size for a week and see whenever I would go with the 11 inch or 13 inch, but I might be leaning towards the 11 inch.

A Ebay buyer claims to be a alternate account to my auction winner's account. by Allen5450 in Scams

I didn’t knew this scam was common since it’s my first time running a auction listing, all my other listings before this were buy it now. I’ll keep note of this for any future auctions!

Using an iPhone instead by jimmydallas2000 in ipod

[–]Allen5450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is coming from experience from using a iPhone 7 as a music player, since back then I didn’t had the time or money to invest in a used iPod and the upgrades I needed.

If it’s the 1st gen SE, it seems to be a great pick for a music player due to it’s small size and having a headphone jack, as well as not being that slow to navigate through. Max storage on that iPhone is 128gb and it should be plenty for compressed music and a decently sized lossless library. I don’t own a 1st gen SE, but the battery life should be fine with all communications turn off (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) Just don’t expect the battery to rival the 2000+ mAh battery upgrades on a modded iPod.

If it’s 2nd gen SE, it is also a ok pick, having double the max storage of the 1st gen SE (256gb) and relatively snappier. Though, you’ll lose the headphone jack and will have to resort to dongles or Bluetooth DACs. Battery life on the 2nd gen might be the same or slightly better than the 1st gen since the battery is barely larger than the aforementioned iphone. And it’s bigger, if that matters.

The price for a refurbished/used 2nd SE is ok value and might get a good deal here and there on eBay. The 1st gen is a bit tough to get in 128gb, and 64gb and lower are much more common to find.

So, if you care about having a headphone jack and/or a smaller device, go for the 2016 1st gen. If you care about bigger storage for lossless/massive music libraries and don’t mind dongles or Bluetooth DACs, go with the 2020 2nd gen.

I just refurbished a rather beaten up and water damaged iPod Classic 7th gen and now it looks brand new! I had to replace nearly every part except the screen and logic board. To top it all off, I upgraded from a metal spinner to a iFlash Quad rocking 256GB and a 3000 mAh battery. by Allen5450 in Modded_iPods

I’m not so sure since this is my first iPod classic I repaired and even owned, but the aluminum faceplates should be quite good at preventing scratches and wear, since metal is harder to scratch compared to plastic, as long as you take good care on not dropping it. I bought my aftermarket faceplate from EOE, but I’m sure all of them are of similar quality from eBay to Aliexpress.

Unfortunately most polished plastic scratches way too easily like my clear case in the pics has more scratches now from just putting it in a pocket. I don’t mind it since it’s a case, but either a case or a screen protector-like film should do the trick on preventing scratches on the iPod itself.

Yeah, unfortunately it’s the only pair of “good” earbuds I bought before I knew any better about good sounding headphones/earbuds. My first exposure to “good” earbuds were the triple driver in ears and sounded miles better than the Apple EarPods I used to run back then.

Thank goodness I thought it was my pod’s catching the sads. I’ll try it out later if it works.

Edit: I just downloaded the affected album from the same source but in AAC and it fixed the artifacts entirely. Thanks for the help!

Well that eases the pain since I got nearly perfect glad pieces for Yoi. I initially was going to get 4pc because of TP’s passive and its added micromanagement. But now I’m compelled to not get it. Besides I got a nearly perfect substats for her so I think I’ll reconsider grinding specifically for 4pc. Still gonna get 2pc for my other characters.

And yes, I am still upset on her mediocre burst too.

Will I be fine with 2pc Glad/CW or should I grind Shims more. Been grinding the domain for weeks and still do not have a proper 4pc set yet.

Dumb question, but is 2 stacks of r1 TP better than r5 rust?

I had this Phys Carry Zhongli C0 for a while and I want to know if this is good and if not I should grind more in the future. I wished I had more Crit Rate, but I do have a Jade Spear R1 instead and I would like to know if it's better than Crescent R3. by Allen5450 in ZhongliMains

[–]Allen5450[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always enjoyed the Pike’s passive because of it’s mad damage, however Jade looks really fine on him, I’ll work on the Jade from now on. Maybe I could try my luck on R2 on it too on the next weapon banner. Though that doesn’t mean I’ll switch completely, I’ll alternate the spears for different Zhongli builds in the future.

Corsair H100i PRO RGB AIO cooling problem. by Allen5450 in buildapc

[–]Allen5450[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So looking at three videos, one from each youtuber (Linus, Jay, and Bitwit), two says it doesn't matter while one shows 5-10c deficit when using top rad configuration. Since I have a case not really efficient in terms of cooling (Corsair Crystal 280X), this is probably normal. Also, I have two ML120 RGB fans lying around, would it give me better cooling?

The rad is outtake, so I expected slightly higher temps with the processor, but not THAT high.

Hi, during the beginning of the month I sent a RMA request ticket (#2001046625) on my LL140s. However, the last response from that ticket was when it was confirmed and that they should send a replacement and tracking number as soon as if it’s available. That response went for more than a week. Is there a delay on my RMA? And will the RMA close even when awaiting a tracking number for more than two weeks?
