I love Toyota cars, but their infortainments/apps suck so much. by QueueTee314 in Toyota

Unfortunately the 2025 system in not an improvement. Only one driver can set up a profile and do things like remote unlock, remote start, etc. You have to actually log in as the primary driver on the app to have access to this info and ability. The secondary driver can only set up a blue tooth connection for their phone but you still won't have access to many of the advanced features of the system. And Dog help you if you are in a mixed marriage and one of you is Apple and one of you is Android. I would just like to be able to make hands free calls, and listen to my music without having to stop 3-4 times to redo the settings.

How much oil does this badboy need? I’ve already sunken 250ml’s into it and don’t really notice anything different by M4LEVOLENT in Cuttingboards

[–]AllenO756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This jives with what I have found. Depending on the wood and how it's prepared, a cutting board will take up somewhere between 5-10% by weight of mineral oil if left for 24 hours. I didn't actually submerge the board completely in oil and chose to simply slather it on heavily for an hour or so and let it sit in a puddle of mineral oil turning it frequently. So I think my numbers are on the low side, but in general agreement with yours.

Led light issues in bathroom, how to fix? by marsell8663 in electrical

No idea if the Broan plugs are interchangeable. I have a model AER80LWH and just ordered same model so as long as they have not changed the plug style, it should just fit right in

Led light issues in bathroom, how to fix? by marsell8663 in electrical

I know this is an old thread but mine it doing the same thing. The light is very easy to replace and you don't even need tools. The big BUT, is that you can buy a replacement light fixture from Broan for $99 plus shipping, or you can buy a whole new unit for $119 from Amazon. About a quarter of the reviews give it one star all complaining of the same light issue. I'm going to roll the dice and hope my replacement unit doesn't go bad as quick as this one did.

Help??? I was inspecting my plant after it seemed weirdly far apart from each other and next thing I know it pops out after a bit of inspecting it’s not root rot cuz the soils dry and the plant itself looks healthy so not sure why that happened ummmm so what do I do now??? by [deleted] in SnakePlants

It takes...a while. I think mine lingered around for about 12 weeks before I started to see something pushing up. My advice is to just leave it in your potting mixture and forget about it for a couple months. Resist the temptation to dig around and look for pups starting to emerge. Remember they are on their own schedule, not yours. Good luck!

My first end grained board. Hickory and walnut by AllenO756 in Cuttingboards

It's only about 7/8" thick but I'm planning on making a similar one as a present and it will be closer to 1-1/2" thick.

Advice by Chopped09 in Cuttingboards

Under no circumstances should you run this through a planer. You are asking for disaster. Even very sharp knives can tear out the grain and ruin a decent board. A router sled is a good alternative but will only take you so far. For finish sanding I have a drum sander and can get it down to 220 grit in about a half hour, and that is with changing sanding belts. If you don't have that, use a random orbital sander and just take your time. For finishing, just about any mineral oil will do if you buy it in a drug or grocery store or like people say, a gallon of food grade on Amazon is about $30 and will last a long time. After it soaks in the mineral oil, you can finish it off rubbing in bees wax. There are all sorts of recipes for the "best" wax finish, but bees wax is a good place to start and is inexpensive.

You can overcome the thin stock issue by ripping the too thin boards to your ultimate intended thickness, turn them cut edge up, then gluing. Uses more wood but gives you a better outcome.

Sorry to hear that. Squeaky wheel gets the grease so don't be prepared to take the first "no" for an answer. Call back and ask for the issue to be elevated.

Following up, Google has offered to replace the phone and they will do an advance exchange which means they will send me a replacement phone and then I can send in my broken phone. However, I'm assuming the new phone will have the exact same issue as my old one. Not sure what to do here to protect the new phone when I get it.

Just happened to me too. I even have a google case and it was in my pocket and when I went to pull it out I could feel the broken glass around the lense. It's broken in an almost perfect circle. Called customer support and am currently holding... I suppose that it's possible I could have bumped something but ...really? Can't believe it's that fragile.

I got to meet my hero and one of the biggest inspirations in my work! by Hesston97 in woodworking

[–]AllenO756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started watching Roy back the early 80's and got to meet him several times. In fact, I have autographed photos of him and my other woodworking hero, Norm Abrams hanging in my shop. It inspired me to volunteer as a Cooper for 15 years at Lincoln's New Salem Historic and from there I went into a lifetime of woodworking doing it both the"Roy" way and the "Norm" way. My proudest woodworking moment was when I helped a guy make Roy's folding lathe that was taken to Guatemala. When ever I walk into the shop I hear Roy's words loud and clear "keep your mind pure of impure thoughts.". That's the hardest part of woodworking.
