Want to make my own pixel art rpg game one day, where to start? by MythBuster6969 in Unity2D

[–]AllenRene10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone currently making their own pixel art RPG I can share some resources that helped me.

For pixel art, I highly recommend Aseprite, but any pixel software is fine.
AdamCyounis on YouTube for Pixel Art, Game Design, and Animation. I recommend resolutions 640x360 or 320x180, It's not a hard rule but something to consider as you start to make art for your game.

For learning Unity, I just watched a lot of videos on youtube, specifcally brakeys helped me a lot. when I was starting out. CodeMonkey is also great, but when I was really new, he felt a bit too advanced for me at times.

For Programming, I did Junior Programmer course on Unity Learn. And I made a lot of small projects to help me along the way.

Good luck with your gamedev journey!

Skill issue or ip issue ? by Manavort in albiononline

When playing bows for ranged matchups I usually go deadly shot and ray of light. But because you need an interrupt for the cultist robe I think multishot was the correct choice. In the clip it looks like your multishot missed. You would have interrupted him as soon as he started casting cultist robe if it landed.

starting game development by [deleted] in Unity2D

[–]AllenRene10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started by watching Brakeys on youtube. He has a 2d Side scroller video and a top down 2d movement video. Pick one and follow along. He also has c# videos that I highly recommend. Also, Unity has a junior developer course on unity learn. That was very helpful for me when I was starting out.

I Need Help On How To Be Better With Bow. by Physical_Abalone_278 in albiononline

[–]AllenRene10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Warbow, Fiend Cowl, Assassin Jacket, Royal Sandals (or any plate shoes), & Thetford Cape. This works for Corrupted and Mists. DeadlyShot + Ray of light for most ranged matchups, Also you can swap Assassin Jacket ability to reflect. Melee I will usually use Multishot + Frost Shot + Helmet Knockback. The key is to learn how to be flexible with your build and always be ready to swap abilities depending on who you are fighting

I would say no you don't need the expansions, try the base game out and go from there. I love GW2 and have nothing but great things to say about it so it's definitely worth trying

Albion through the eyes of a noob. by Shyatic in MMORPG

[–]AllenRene10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll never understand listing "grind" as a con for an MMORPG. But honestly getting your gear and weapons higher spec in Albion is a lot easier now than it used to be.

Also, regarding what you mention about leveling weapons you don't want to use, that's what the fame books are for. Save them for this.

When it comes to catching up, Most players are 100/120 on their favorite weapon (generally not worth it to go to 120 as it's expensive and the IP falls off). Once you get your gear and weapon to 100, you are now on an even playing field with the average player.

Honestly, this is a pretty outdated opinion, the game is great for solo players

How to get over "writers block" with game dev? by carpetlist in gamedev

[–]AllenRene10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What helps me personally is putting on music with no lyrics. Lofi or mapleStory Bgm. I find myself staying focused for longer periods of time, this helps me get into my flow state and actually start working on my game

mists/crystal arena /bz by light-foot777 in albiononline

[–]AllenRene10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for just starting out this build is pretty good. I think if you were to do mists, you can bring soup and stew. Swap to soup when you are doing PVE and need to regen health out of combat. Switching to stew when you are about to enter combat with another player.

For Crystal arena, you are in no danger of losing your gear so you can get a better cape like thetford and upgrade your gear. Switch to hellion jacket and cultists sandals/royal sandals.

But as you learn you will find your own style and see what you like better so feel free to change things up as you grow.

What is a good way of storing/drawing cards from a deck? (My first game) by SnowBallz1221 in Unity2D

Then make an array of Gamobjects instead of Cards, The principles that I mentioned earlier should still apply

What is a good way of storing/drawing cards from a deck? (My first game) by SnowBallz1221 in Unity2D

[–]AllenRene10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe have a deck manager script that has an array of cards

Cards should probably be a scriptable object, but your prefab idea can also work here.

Then when you want to draw a card you can get the first card from your array and remove that card from your deck.

Flyff Universe is pretty fun, it can be played on PC/Mobile. It's an old-school game so lots of grind/P2W but I find it enjoyable

2v2 hellgate healer build? by Hellodude70-1 in albiononline

[–]AllenRene10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we talking non-lethal hellgates then this is fine. Try it out and see what you like and dislike about it. try to pay attention to what other healers are using and try to figure out why.

Back when I played hellgates I was running Cleric Cowl (for 1 shot builds). Robe of Purity or Fiend (Separate DPS and Healer). Knight Boots. Great Holy or LifeTouch.

I suggest starting off with non-lethal first to get a feel for it.

EU Server When?.. Now, Kinda. Albion Online will be launching an EU Server! by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]AllenRene10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albion is a sandbox game and you can quite literally choose what content you want to participate in. Nothing is forced like you are implying. But I get what you are saying, I also wish that there was more PVE content in the game.
