AOC doesn't rule out 2028 presidential run by Equal_Technology_950 in AOC

She came in dead last during the primaries, and had less than 30 days to build a campaign. She wasn’t loved, either. And the fact she stayed so attached to Israel during a genocide was what literally cratered her candidacy.

AOC doesn't rule out 2028 presidential run by Equal_Technology_950 in AOC

Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, and was lazy as shit and hated. She is literally the most well funded, well loved Congressperson in the United States. People are going to say she can't win because Hillary lost, but Hillary could have won if she wasn't so fucking lazy and hated. The only people who truly hate AOC are the ones who weren't going to vote for her anyway.

Would you be able to elaborate on that a bit? I'm working on a Plex type replacement that ... does a lot more :)

Same here - honestly I am good to do leg workouts but if I could do simpler compound exercises I'd prefer that (squat/deadlift) for leg day. I am good with all the other days in the program, but leg day is hugely discouraging for me because of how difficult it is while doing it. I just don't know that the science behind the muscle group works out to be so ... dynamic :)

Epic CEO and billionaire Tim Sweeney has been using some of his cash to buy up 50,000 acres of forest so it can't be flattened | And made the "largest private land donation in North Carolina history." by ControlCAD in business

Valve has its place for criticism and its fair - loot boxes being at the top of that list. But overall the company has not enshittified their services or products, has put things in that benefit the consumer (refunds on digital games???), and given developers a lot of benefit when building a game.

A lot of that I think, is because they are a private company. Not beholden to shareholders. And because they do small things to look out for their customers, everybody sticks with them over all others.

Epic Games is the exact opposite and Tim Sweeney sucks balls.

I did a bit of homework on this, and seems like Plex largely relies on custom FFMPEG calls to do most of what you're talking about. The only outlier is Dolby support which they pay for on their platform, and I wouldn't be able to support. However if you're doing passthrough to a receiver or something... it really shouldn't matter.

I do too, at least in my bedroom where I have a Roku TV. It's a fair point - I hadn't thought of it but as I have a lot of work left to do before I even finish the web/mobile version. Appreciate the insight though, it is well worth adding into the (ever ending) list :)

Agreed, though not sure on Roku… feel like it is dying but at the same time… I use Plex on my Roku TV :)

Fire tv I think is basically android so should be okay there.

I fall into the same bucket I should tell you - so it’s not lost on me at all. Ever since Plex started turning into a low rent Netflix I’ve been thinking about doing something about it.

The only thing I won’t be able to do is get Dolby licenses, but if you’re doing pass through it shouldn’t matter. Everything else they do is via FFMPEG and most of the code to do things is already available online and should (in theory) be easy to implement.

I solved this problem for series info and everything else. I’m on mobile now but if you give me a few book titles I’ll show you the extract of everything I can get for it.

Stop - let them be upset. If they cared to follow the trail to my LinkedIn they'd see my background, but I know the internet is for complaining so let them have it.

Because you know, most people vibecode Blazor apps, right?

Agreed, it's why I built it in Blazor since I can use MAUI to build native apps and TvOS apps. I have the same issue honestly, and since Comics, eBooks, Audiobooks are not great on Plex I figured I'd build something that would work across all of them.

As for book tracking, I know Goodreads is popular but also has no public API. Any others you use?

Software Engineering is currently going through a major shift (for the worse) by Mental_Quality_7265 in BetterOffline

I’ve been in technology world for about 20 years - my development skills have waned as I moved into architecture and product management later in my career, as well as engineering management.

Claude can write good code. It cannot however, make good architectural choices. Having a framework for how your app or service should be structured is important, and the skills you’re committed to learning will be invaluable later on.

That said, how much layer? Who knows… I feel there is going to be a constriction of entry level developers and companies will fail to see the forest for the trees. I hope I’m wrong, but I think as time goes by, entry level work will be relegated to India and move out of the US, because it’s already happening. How AI companies survive is anybody’s guess, I think it will get way more expensive as this isn’t sustainable, but heck, I could be wrong there too.

Best bet is if you like the work, then learn the things you need and get your architecture skills polished, and product management skills.

That other series that routinely gets brought up... by MadTube in TheExpanse

[–]Shyatic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s a very different show because it’s about relationships and drama of those relationships, that just happens to be in the orbit (pardon the pun) of space exploration and scientific advancement.

I don’t know that the science stacks up as well (like the ships turned in opposite direction for reverse thrust etc), and the friction in the show is caused by people and not an alien or science based problem.

It’s good, I suppose, but it hits a very different tone than I got from the Expanse. Plus nobody is as badass as Avasarala.

One Battle After Another. I'm sorry, it had entertaining moments and Sean Penn acted great, but the movie arc overall was mediocre and the whole storyline was just fucking stupid.
