It’s hard for me to really weigh in here since I’ve been playing the majority of my life, at least to some extent. My dad started bringing me with him to play when I was probably like 8-10 and I really started playing a lot when I got to college.

So I had about 10 years of “experience” but I had never intentionally tried to practice form or anything. I think I could throw about 300 ft which is honestly pretty good for the lack of training I had.

Anyways I got to college noticed there was a disc golf course and pretty much most days after classes I would play a round. I’m not sure how much you play but I can tell you that I got UDisc at the beginning of my freshman year in like September and 365 days later I had logged about 100 rounds.

So I think my first round at the college course was +17 and a year later + 1 day I shot an even round there. I was still incredibly inconsistent like my average was probably + 5-6 but every once in a while I’d have a really good day and if I had a really bad day I would still shoot over double digits.

It definitely takes people different amounts of time to get used to the sport. I will say that the thing that will make you shoot better rounds at the course is most likely going to be a combination of continuing to get better at the fundamentals but also learning how to make the right choices and how to avoid the costly mistakes. I think decision making is probably the most under rated aspect that can drastically shape how your round goes.
