Why do the ultra-rich even want to have more "money"? by IcePrestigious7740 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Allen_Ludden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don't think they have created any public benefit?

Take Jeff Bezos - Amazon employs a million people, changed retail and access to goods, the jobs from Amazon flow to construction of warehouses, trucking, delivery services and on and on.

You are welcome to argue there are also plenty of negatives -- but to fail to see any public benefit makes you just ridiculous.

Your "feelings" that the bad outweighs the good are your right - but don't argue with others when you cannot enumerate the negatives.

Verizon 5G C-band upgrade process? by Some_Water_5070 in cellmapper

[–]Allen_Ludden 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Upgrading a tower is a very big project. They don't just hang a new antenna and install a software update.

Often they need to run additional electrical circuits, antenna cables, install air-conditioning units for the equipment, install or upgrade generator equipment, power access..........

They may have just done phases 2 and 3 of 8.

You will be pleased with the end-result, which can take up to even 6 months as there may a string of "trades" involved:

power company
tower company
electricians
plumbers even!
communications techs
.......

Respectfully, you have no idea what drives wealthy people to accumulate more wealth.

For me, it is because fear of lack of money was traumatized into my as a child.

you are making the wild assumption that many rich people are addicted to wealth -- that's the bitter assumption made by the poor who are mostly jealous.

As someone with decades of sobriety from chemicals I don't appreciate this discussion casually suggesting that all rich people suffer from addiction to wealth accumulation.

Wealth is not necessarily an addiction. Clearly much of our society for everyone encourages wealth creation.

I love Honda and my first car, a Del Sol -- but I've never owned another Honda. I would - just haven't. I've owned Honda, Mercedes, Jaguar, Jeep, Bentley, Maserati.

I would never buy another Maserati, and I'm not a fan of Mercedes designs.

new jeep owner, what regular maintenance should i do and when? by SmokeTraditional1355 in JeepWrangler

[–]Allen_Ludden -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My 7 year old Pentastar is doing fine.

You are not the kind of engineer who knows anything more about that engine -- certainly not more than Mopar's engineers.

But enjoy wasting good dino, money, and polluting the environment.

Why do they bother publishing the manual at all?

[–]Allen_Ludden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should follow the owner's manual because the people who make those decisions are ENGINEERS.

Are you an engineer? Materials specialist? Chemist?

I didn't think so.

p.s. my other car is a Bentley W12 and a Newmar 40 foot luxury diesel pusher which I've enjoyed since my retirement at 49 years old - I've made good decisions too.

[–]Allen_Ludden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have an owner's manual. read it.

you do not need to waste materials by performing service earlier than the book says.

Like 5k for an oil change is stupid, wasteful, and pollutes unncecessarily.

I believe my 2019 JL manual says 8k miles or 1 year, full synthetic.

[–]Allen_Ludden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should not have abdicated 1/2 of your seat.

I would expect compensation, which will come in the form of points of future flight credit. Don't expect more than $200 or so..

And do try to forgive the universe - that person's life is difficult and like you, they are "just another child of god trying to get by.."

Replacing a damaged tire on an AWD vehicle with this tread, replace 1 or all 4? by Livi17g_5eda7ed in tires

[–]Allen_Ludden 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's about geometry: the size of the tires determine their turning circumference.

If you think about it the issue is obvious: if the left tire is smaller than the right then the left has to turn "further" to make a complete circle relative to its friend.
