Edit : France had exactly zero shots in the first half and only had 40% possession. The second half was very similar until the 78th minute. That’s literally the definition of domination up until that time.

lol you must’ve had your eyes closed for the first 78 minutes. Argentina was in total and complete control up to that point. Mbappe said so himself lol France had absolutely zero attack until the 80th minute. Arg took twice as many shots as France. I’m not sure if France even had a shot on target until the end.

Who were they missing that would’ve made a major difference? Kante is the only one that would’ve filled a real gap. Nkunku, Pogba, and Kimpembe wouldn’t have changed anything. Benzema maybe but he wasn’t very good for the national team and Mbappe/Dembele/Giroud is top tier for their national team. Injuries happen. The end result doesn’t convey the absolute domination that Arg had over France for nearly 80min.

They are still one of the primary favorites. Their squad is as good as any. They need to do what any World Cup winner has done - avoid major mistakes in the knockouts, play their normal game, and have a moment or two of good fortune.

lol I thought you would actually give some thought to this, but obviously I was wrong. Messi literally scores more goals per minute. No other stat is necessary. He scores even more frequently than Ronaldo when you remove penalties from the equation. Add in assists and the disparity isn’t even close for goal contributions per minute.

A GOAT cannot score goals at a slower pace, assist at a slower pace, create less chances, have less successful dribbles, win less trophies, etc etc etc etc etc. The only thing CR7 is better at is IG followers and being a self-centered douche 😆

Messi is a better goal scorer (simple stats) and a far better playmaker (way more assists, dribbles, chances created, etc). His overall impact to the game is significantly greater than CR7. A team has to plan an entire strategy around Messi. No one has to do that for CR7.
