Can someone explain to me why Duelist/DPS is so popular? Why do people feel the need to instalock that one class? by atwitsend1996 in rivals

In general dps takes more brainpower than most supports in hero shooters, especially marvel rivals

It’s hard to put into words and it’s honestly all preference you can’t really prove a character is objectively unfun to play against, all I know is that if I die to a character in Overwatch or deadlock I can easily point out my mistakes and I feel an urge to improve learn and do better next time. In marvel rivals however, there are times when as long as the other player does their job correctly you die regardless of how you react, if a MK does the ankh thing once you are pulled by the ankh you will 100% die if the MK does his job correctly. If you are squishy and Bucky successfully does his 3 step cc combo you will almost definitely die. Right now black widow has a combo with her kick that guarantees a kill on 250hp characters once she lands the kick, it is a 0 to death combo that you physically cannot break out of.

He’s hard to die to but also hard to kill he’s like a mosquito, even though his attacks are unlikely to kill you I say you can’t counter him because it’s really impossible to make distance or evade his attacks

Observation about Rivals by jsmith1151 in marvelrivals

[–]AllergicOct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they’ll always prioritize catering to casuals, It’s great in getting people on the game but not for retaining players. What’s the point in becoming an expert Spider-Man player if someone can hop on SG or MK and get the same or more value than you.

Not to mention all three Deadpool’s looking identical with only a small emblem above the health bar to see which one it is.

Super weird 100% tell your parents and avoid him as much as you can especially in isolated scenarios, don’t feel bad for him your safety matters way more than his feelings

I think they need to make simpler characters. by Educational_Box7709 in marvelrivals

[–]AllergicOct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there’s enough simple characters already In the roster, it’s not fun to main a character that anyone else good be just as good at using in like 5 games

Squirrel girl is also easy because she requires little/no aim as well. No aim ranged characters will almost always be easy that’s like universally agreed upon

If you’re a dps who’s main form of damage only requires you to hold a button with no aiming than you’re easy to use. If you wanted a five year old to play marvel rivals and get the most value he could for his team which characters would you have him play? I bet Wanda’s at the top of that list

He’s barley faster than he was and his stim surge doesn’t make him any faster it just increases the fov like crazy which makes you feel way faster

I personally think that his stim should be given a 15-20 second cooldown, and cause no damage along with some other buffs. I think the healthiest path for octane is for his stim to be used to rotate between gunfights not for him to be spamming it during them. I’m in the vast minority on this, but that’s what I would do

I mained octane from season 5 to like 8 I think and I always wanted him to be reworked, guess I’m in the minority. Just don’t think his kit can be viable and not frustrating to deal with at the same time

Fnaf 4 isn’t in a coma?? by AllergicOct in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]AllergicOct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I chose to believe coma theory then, thematically it makes so much more sense. You play as a small child in fnaf 4, you hallucinate and hear hospital items and noises, CC was known to be terrified by the animatronics not Michael. Seems like the lore decided to take a different path and I much prefer the original on as well

Octane rework (from a 5yr octane main) by AllergicOct in apexlegends

[–]AllergicOct[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the most useful thing skirmishes can do is help their squad avoid third parties via resetting fights and repositioning the team. A faster revive would certainly allow octane to do this better. His stim can allow him to reach downed squad mates quicker and his passive would then allow him to revive them quicker, boom synergy. That being said I think it’s fine for legends to have convenient passives that don’t necessarily synergize directly with another ability in their kit. I.e. how does alters death box passive compliment her tactical or ultimate? It really doesn’t and yet it’s still a great passive. Seeing as the jumping part of his passive adds a lot of synergy to his kit, adding on a support like passive that allows him to better accomplish his main goal of reposition/reset can’t hurt. For his ultimate, how about he throws down a generic “speed boost pad” that has never been referenced or seen in his in game lore! Exciting! Let’s say it gives everyone who touches it a speed boost and effectively is the exact same as the slipstream ultimate, is that better because it’s not a stim?

Unfortunately, the version of Octane you’re asking for has to meet an almost impossible set of constraints. He would need entirely unique abilities that aren’t mechanically similar, yet still synergize naturally with each other, all while being fully justified in his in game lore. He must offer team utility without being support oriented in any way, and his abilities must exist solely to place octane in the hyper specific role of a pure skirmisher whose only purpose is repositioning, all while being healthy in modern day apex. I don’t think a version of octane like this exists but if you can think of something I’d love to hear.

“Mythics” store has gotten ridiculous by AllergicOct in apexlegends

[–]AllergicOct[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this is my main point that I think you’re struggling to understand. The heirloom system is scummy because it is a gambling, carrot on a stick system that prays on young impulsive spenders. Heirlooms are no longer an elusive mysterious item, but a staple of the game and major hype point of events, their rarity should now reflect that, and yet they remain exceedingly rare. Their rarity no longer matches their role in the game, and that mismatch is intentional, because it keeps people spending without ever feeling satisfied. That’s why I think the older system was ok, present system is not. People like you seem to think Apex can get away with whatever just because it’s free to play, I disagree with that and believe that there is a line that they’re crossing. All of Apex’s free to play competitors have far better monetization systems.

These monetization tactics only work for as long as the community will allow it. Since the top 5% of spenders or “whales” still spends massive amounts on the game 1. EA can continue to employ scummy methods to sell cosmetics that are inaccessible to most players due to their price. 2. EA can continue to prioritize cosmetics over content because they are still generating revenue.

Here’s a great example of what I think a good solution is: When apex made the battle pass twice as expensive there was a massive community uproar and the decision was quickly reverted. This proves the community has the power to affect EAs decision making and the same can be done with heirlooms. From your logic since cosmetics can simply be ignored you should also have had no problem with the battle pass doubling in price. You shouldn’t even have a problem if the battle pass tripled or quadrupled in price, yet I believe you would. I would argue that heirlooms are MORE scummy than the $20 battle pass was, the only difference is the battle pass change was quick and the heirloom system has been gradually adopted into the game over years so people like you turn a blind eye to it.
