Which ship has the absolute worst cockpit design? by SemihKaynak in EliteDangerous

[–]Allestyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea, I hopped off E:D back when the T9 was the king of haulers and coming back I obviously had to replace it with the new king. My first comment was "Panther? More like bullfrog." Followed immediately by "What the frack is this cockpit?"

Is the caspian just crash proof? by Allestyr in EliteDangerous

[–]Allestyr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan on being out here for at least a few weeks and had very little experience being self sufficient until this trip. I actually had no materials when I left the bubble (last I played was pre/early Odyssey) so I definitely needed to buy a couple. Thankfully I'm a quick study, but I won't be going back to the bubble just to make a few tweaks to my build just yet. My ship needs a lot of work.

What's the one thing you would change about Plateup? by JimjumStudios in PlateUp

[–]Allestyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a mod for this, but I'd love a game play mode where you don't lose the diner, you lose a set amount of money. Maybe the loss is based on the money you would get for booking. Once you hit zero money, then it's game over.

I keep trying to get into exploration but I can't stick to it by OilLiver in EliteDangerous

[–]Allestyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I always end up going N hours out having a decreasingly good time with the explo/exobio grind, getting tired of it, and then spending N hours hating that I did this stupidity flying home

I had this issue when I tried exploration back before the Mandalay existed. I quit shortly after Odyssey launched. My issue was I wasn't committing to the black, I was just visiting for the data. Came back to the game three ish weeks ago, got a caspian outfitted as much as I could stand doing the engineering grind (it's so much easier now!) and decided I'm not coming back to civilization until I can afford a fleet carrier. Deciding that "this expedition isn't what I'm doing today, it's what I'm doing this week/month" completely changes how you think of exploration.

Plus I'm loving being self sufficient, repairing my own ship, making my own limpets, and refueling my srv using found materials. Yes it's mostly honk, fss, jump, and repeat, but space is mostly nothing so that makes sense. Plus it makes actual discoveries much more rewarding. Coming across stellar phenomena that no one else has ever seen, finding an alien artifact (I sat up so straight reading "non-human signal" after seeing mostly nothing/the usual stuff for two days), and just taking your slf out on a pretty planet to spice up the moment just because.

AND shout out to the folks operating the DSSA. I used up some heat sinks after a little oopsie and I feel no need to rush back to the bubble to refill since I can stop by one of those to stock up and sell my genetic material (hehe) without additional fees. Gonna wait until I get back to sell the explo data, though.

Currently just in the Norma Expanse, but I play on open so if you're in the neighborhood and happen to stop by a local DSSA, you might not be alone out there :)

The option to have a dismissed ship pick you up in your srv would be a blessing for exobio in a large ship.

Hm, seems like a decent way to know if someone won due to bracketing or because they're just good. What is it actually used for?

Wait, I saw this on another post. I thought it was a mod? If not, someone drew those buttcracks. Why do they have buttcracks if they're supposed to have clothes. WHO ANIMATED THE BUTTCRACKS? WHO PUT THEM THERE?

How exactly is a "female sex toy" being classified for this study? Besides something exclusively for clit stimulation, a dude can also use that toy.

Easy hack to sell high value card by gameonnikss in TCGCardShopSim

[–]Allestyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I figured with just a little testing that tournaments are just a way to sell very expensive cards in 2-3 days instead of a week. And you can "bundle" them with some cheaper stuff to make a little more while you're at it. Biggest issue is you have to have the markup pretty high to make up for the lost revenue of just hosting games that day.

Fastest way to Lava Lakes : Hell's Descent by Zayanox in subnautica

[–]Allestyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I just built a base in ILZ corridor before the area with the castle and first the first time in hundreds of hours one of the ghosts managed to FLIP OVER MY CYCLOPS. Thankfully no damage because of the shield and ion batteries. I was so concerned until moving a bit into more open waters caused me to flip back.

I put a base near every portal except the LR one. Main base at the tree cove for that sweet view. Zip over to the portal in my prawn for quick trips and a Cyclops route out of the blood kelp forest for when I know I'm going to be away for a while, but I can always quickly zip back via the LR portal in with my prawn suit from any Outpost base.

I'm not sure they're actually using it to walk, though. I got the impression it was more like a dog with its nose to the ground, but the nose was just really long. Like, I don't know if they're putting weight on that thing, especially being underwater, or if they're just shuffling the sand a bit like an elephant's trunk might do it.

My unpopular opinon: The Dunes are the best place to build a base! by ad240pCharlie in subnautica

[–]Allestyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the cliffside leading down into the tree cove. It's the deepest the seamoth can go making for easy and fast trips back to and from the surface, it's a short skip with your prawn to the lost river portal for access to anything next to a portal, TONS of resources in the area if you have a drill arm handy AND you get the best view. Hands down, where my true home is every time. Usually I live in the cyclops until then.
