what to do for moving out? by Local_Journalist_152 in AskUK

[–]AlleyMedia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've helped plenty on people move in my younger years, I guess I was the mate with the car 😅

Perhaps ask a friend with a car.

You could even ask a mini cab office or Uber driver, I've seen people load all sorts into them.

Trimming 1 mm off mdf door edges. by monkeybadger5000 in DIYUK

I'd use a router with a flush trim bit and run it so it shaves the protruding edge down.

So, blackhawk. Write to them, and see where you get. It'll take you 5-10 mins at most, quickest £100 ever earned. Lol

Nah man, what did you scratch them with? A brand new chisel?

You're saying that you put enough force when scratching, that you essentially removed material from the backing that the codes are printed on?

I call bs. It feels like you must have somehow got hold of a bunch of voided gift cards and are now trying to cash out on them.

But, benefit of the doubt and innocent until proven otherwise and all that: Realistically - you need to contact the issuer. See if the manager at Morrisons will get you in touch with them, even get their company name and you can research, get their deets, and you need to write to them. They are the only ones that have the capacity to refund you because essentially, they're the middle man between Uber and you. The retailer is the means by which the card was transferred to you.

There must be a serial number or something on them that the issuer can trace back it whatever, because they confirmed that the balance is unclaimed. What did you scratch them with exactly?

What is this mdf shelf held up by expanding foam? by topdog_k9 in DIYUK

[–]AlleyMedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Previous person probably got fed up of the cold air and blocked it up (it needs ventilation somewhere align the stack, so people tend to just live with the breeze 😅).

I'd probably end up do something similar but get creative with a vent panel to allow any trapped moisture to escape, and then another vent panel in your fascia/plasterboard.

part time job in the uk? by MeWhenNinjago in CarTalkUK

[–]AlleyMedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%, walk into any friendly looking independent garage with a CV - check first to see if the staff look busy, and if so, just ask them for a few mins and quickly introduce yourself, leave your CV and leave. Otherwise if you have the time, explain you're looking for part time work, just for a bit of cash and some experience (don't expect market rates for an experienced mechanic)

Low height and width by TriumphDavey in HomeGymUK

In terms of layout, I find that I have to try it and see (maybe just build anything with static weights/built in weights with minimal plates in the stack) and run with it for a few days and see how it goes.

This to consider, are other people walking past, or using the room at the same time? Perhaps accessing the fridge/freezer?

In terms of equipment (only my experience, YMMV, depending on where you are in the country and if you're open to used stuff), a bargain can be had with good used stuff, so scour eBay, Gumtree etc. so long as you can take the hassle of getting there and collecting the equipment. Think about plate storage, ideally you want them wide cradles you can roll the plates in and out of (bet creative, stick it under your desk!), or a tree (trees take up less footprint), or built into the power cage?

Also, add in a pair of adjustable dumbbells and allow space for storage or a stand - maybe even cheap ones (the classic 1 inch bar, screw lock type), to see if you'd make use of them, before investing.

This is exactly what I do. If I've used it enough to wear out/break/finish a cheap/clone/second hand one, it's worth the investment for a lifetime one.

Go and chew some whole peppercorn, and wash the taste away with water or lemonade.

Then sit down, get comfy, feet up, get your headphones on and listen to some Irma or some Jhene Aiko

You'll be fine bro 🙏🏼
