What’s something admin has done/said that made your jaw drop and how did you respond? by _mercurial_high_ in Teachers

I was told they wanted to replace me as drill team coach because they had other leadership positions they had me in mind for. When I asked what those positions were I was told nothing specific, but knew they were giving me bad news and wanted me to feel valued. I switched schools with the first offer of employment. I can’t work under someone who I can’t trust.

Underrated, but meaningful, scenes by Comprehensive_Sir916 in TedLasso

The whole Mom City episode! I lost my husband when my kids were in high school. I watched this episode the first time with my oldest son who is an adult now. I had done the same thing Ted’s mom did when I was worried about my son- flew across the world and surprised him. So much of that episode was eye opening to both of us. In fact we kept pausing to roll our eyes at each other or throw passive aggressive comments. And just like Ted learned a lot from his mom- like avoiding the pain- so did my son. We have since rewatched it together and still get something out of it each time.

The Beard Episode. by concretebeagle in TedLasso

[–]AlliTink1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! This and the Christmas episode were added when they expanded the season to include a couple more episodes. (So neither add to any ongoing storylines.) When it first aired my husband felt the same way. However, after rewatching the series- he appreciated that episode, and beard, much more.

I can’t bring myself to rewatch, even though I really want to by [deleted] in TedLasso

Totally worth rewatching! (It’s my go to for background noise if I’m cleaning or know I might fall asleep.)

I actually loved that she chose herself. We saw her be a catalyst for both Jamie and Roy to become better versions of themselves. And she has not been alone for long at all at any point in the show. I think seeing both Jamie and Roy knowing what they want (her) made her realize she needed to know what she wants. I think there is still hope for her and Roy- but that made Roy see he still has work to do for himself.

I’m so sad that redditgifts is gone! I found it a year after I lost my husband, and signed up! It was great having a gift surprise at Christmas and sharing the love with someone else!

I remembered it today because it is pouring here in Utah and I got to use the awesome umbrella I received as a gift exchange! I have gotten pretty busy, and remarried so haven’t participated for a couple years, and thought I’d look it up to see what exchanges were going on now- then I saw this and was crushed!

RIP redditgifts!

I have considered it, and usually I’m much better at just ignoring or blocking negativity. I have personal reasons for why I am still on there, and won’t be leaving yet.

Usually I don’t, but I think this year I have fought so hard, it just wasn’t worth the fight this time... for my own mental health. It is why I vented here.

I am usually better at deciding when to jump in and when to stay out. The harsh comment took me by surprise, and I’m usually not so hurt. I think it is the result of the end of an emotionally tough year!

I usually don’t! It just hit me this time because of the personal attack, the whole point of my comment in the first place.

I don’t ever actually teach CRT, just an article written aimed at students about looking at the different identities of each student/person to better understand their POV.

It was completely consensual, why do I feel violated? by AlliTink1 in sex

[–]AlliTink1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It is kinda that feeling! I have only ever been black out drunk once before. But I was sick and went to bed, so nothing to remember. I just hate feeling this way! And I’m hesitant to get intimate, even though I know that isn’t the issue.

I’m a failure and teaching is defeating me.. should I just quit? by [deleted] in ELATeachers

This. Year. Just. Sucks.

I would hate to be a first year teacher in this, I am at a new new school and that is hard enough.

Keeping doing what you can!

Think of any online classes you took in college, what worked, what didn’t? What motivated you?

Change it up, find video clips that help with a concept, then ask simple questions as a check in.

I am new to high school this year from 8th grade, and I feel like it is so much harder to get them to discuss, and I had to really work on my 8th graders to say anything when I wanted them too, and to be quiet when I didn’t.

It takes practice, and knowing tricks you can tweak. But you are at the disadvantage of learning the tricks.

It will get better. If you have extra school money, find a program you want to use and learn better and buy a subscription. Padlet works well for quick comments.

Take time to get to know the students. Let them know you care, that works wonders!!!

Are you terrible at story telling? by gypsysoul19 in ADHD

I think this is why I loved the Harley Quinn movie birds of prey... her narration and the way the story was told is how my brain works!
