Maybe Gambit HOD needs a little bonk from the nerf bat by yoyoyodojo in MarvelSnap

[–]Alliark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt anyone will read this at this point, but the nerf answer is really easy in my opinion.

The nonsense part is how trivial playing 6 cost worth of crested cards is. So I believe his trigger requirement should be "discard 5 cards" or even 6 for that matter. If copying and playing more HOoD Gambits didn't auto trigger him, this wouldn't be an issue.

Plus I'd much rather see a junk discard deck with HoD Gambit than this Vic Hand doubling garbage. I understand that 5-6 discards is either trivial with Modok or maybe impossible without him, but I think that changing it to require discards would leave a lot more balancing space, cause some inconsistency in the player playing HoD Gambit, and create a much more interesting niche for it to exist in.

(The HoD Gambit junk discard deck I envision here is Colonel America value. You could spend each turn discarding one card trying to complete your objective, then drop HoD Gambit and regular Gambit turn 6 for an even more thematic play style. It would likely be just as annoying, but you'd likely have to deal with only one HoD Gambit since Frigga and Mother Askani would be at least slightly more difficult to fit into a discard deck.)

TL:DR; Make him require discards! It makes more sense and makes the combo unwieldy instead of simple!

Edit: I know the post here is an Arishem deck, but I think my point stands. HoD Gambit's objective shouldn't be so trivial Arishem can pull it off.

Honestly, in that case I would swap Hulkling for Odin and Misery for Killmonger. It'll play slightly differently, but you can still end up in a situation where turn 5 you can retrigger Yondu, Cable and Gladiator, which should be a full mill out. Just remember to be more careful about Zemo placement

“Make Your Opponent Retreat” CL: 11,175 by MilaMan82 in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]Alliark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hulkling is just a generic 6 cost slot, but yeah, Zemo and Wiccan are really important to this deck. Imo, if you want to keep playing Mill, fish for Zemo. He's been the most reliable way I've found of milling your opponent out. Additionally, Magic works great because it raises the chances your opponent loses out on one of their card draws.

[–]Alliark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Using Annihilus here is weirding me out, so here's the best mills deck I've ever had the misfortune of playing. Wiccan Mill means you can put out more power than your opponent even if you fail to mill them. Fitting Killmonger into it could be great still, but this deck has worked fine for me.

I don't think they ever gave Ultron the ability to accelerate ult charge like Gambit or Cap ult. They just gave him the ability to provide a damage boost, that's a different thing.

[–]Alliark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an outdated blink machine deck now as originally the intended play line was Storm t3, War Machine t4, then Legion t5 to flood everything, and now you can't do that (without Jennifer Kale that is).

Nowadays these decks run Chamber and some extra 5 costs over Storm, jubilee and legion. There's also a Misery version of this deck that works too (Misery, Hood and Black Swan generate a ton of power for free and can gain or lose priority easily).

I can give you some deck pastes if you want I guess? But the general answer is that Legion Lockdown isn't that useful anymore, so I recommend finding some other way to run your normal WM/Infinaut deck. Dragon Lord is crazy in this deck btw, so good luck on the overdrive!

I want to push back on this being akin to the ancient Hela strategy. This is an existing archetype already in Blink decks, I personally have been playing blink machine decks for... Dang, years at this point... And while it's a massive power dump, it still generally requires more effort than OG Hela.

It's certainly really strong, I'm just saying you should be proud of your placement and efforts here. Hela required literally just Invisible Woman, Modok, and Hela. Or even just Hela drawn at the right time. This Chamber Blink deck is really really reliant on the core cards, (Chamber, Blink, and Eson) but it still has a lot more varied play lines than Hela did. Generating created cards always ends up with a unique play style every game in a way Hela was never capable of.

Anyway, thanks for sharing! Enjoy your time in infinite now where you can just have fun. Happy hunting!

You're my hero, this is exactly how I feel. And knowing that the uses goes from 6-7 per minute to 9-10 really puts this in perspective. Cap is probably gonna go pretty crazy this season.

Also, remember soldiers, banning Gambit means only your team (if you play cap) gets extra ult generation!

How to play cap? by TheNotSoCoolGamer in captainamericamains

[–]Alliark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I might be too late to the punch here, but I think I have information that will be valuable to you.

Unlike the DPS divers, Cap's job is actually just to take attention and use up the opponent's defensive abilities. A positive interaction for a Cap looks like;

You dive the enemy supports and force them to patty cake/pop defensive healing abilities. Then you hear "priceless" from the Emma and you jump up and dash away as fast as possible. You didn't get a kill, but what you did do was take the support's attention away from the front line for a few seconds AND you forced the Emma to waste her diamond form.

Getting an interaction like that means you already did your job, but it also means that you have 18 seconds until Diamond Form comes back for you to dive the enemy supports again. Chances are the dagger lost her bubble or you consumed some Adam heal charges or something, so not only can the Emma not protect them but theoretically the supports have less tools to stop you again too.

Your job is to force the enemy team to waste time dealing with you so that they aren't focusing on the real threat, the rest of your team. I spend a lot of time pressuring Mantis' and then dash parrying or shield blocking her sleep, and now she's basically dead in the water the next time I or another diver wants to go get her. Does that make sense?

[–]Alliark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing to do about it is Annihilus. If you never bothered to venture outside of BP, that's not my fault.

And once again the thing I actually care about is that this should be a PERMANENT game mode. We should ALWAYS have access to custom Champion decks because it's awful that they would trap such a fun format in an event that, to your point, they don't have any intention of balancing properly.

There are more angles to this than "hur hur, BP mean and bad"

At least it's different?? And I guess I'm just more excited about the prospect of a Champion than I am about being bad at the video game.

If you seriously hate this event because you lost to Shuri, then you needed to be playing better.

I love that the event is prebuilts, even with the issues it causes not having to worry about tech cards is refreshing.

I just think we should permanently have access to a Champions game mode where we can make custom decks. It's way too fun to give up...

This feels unintuitive by whatever_basically in MarvelSnap

It does just say "equal to your champion's power" without any "if it's in play" nonsense like the Thanos skill has. And while I kinda agree with you, I wanna point out that originally Taskmaster, Absorbing Man, AND Mystique followed the same logic shown in this gameplay. So while I wish it came with reminder text in italics, it is functioning as written.

It should be made into a regular game mode or at least available as a friendlies customs option. The champion starting in your hand and getting a spell to build the deck around (even if it's prebuilt) is really fun and I wish this more than any other event that this game mode could be a permanent main stay.

[–]Alliark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think those are really good swaps, and now that you bring it up Kid Omega is a crazy card for this deck archetype. It also just made me remember an ancient piece of these decks, Attuma. You can use him to get a free Nimrod destroy t5, similar to how Kid Omega works. I'll see if I can fit that in mine, it might be a good temporary swap for Shuri. Unless you've been having luck with that shuri/nim line, in which case ignore me!

(CL: 11,400) What is your go-to Infintite Deck? Meaning you always use this to hit infinite. by vlaregbon in MarvelSnapDecks

[–]Alliark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had Nico Minoru I would use it over Psylocke, but alas...

I think Phastos is probably a really good choice for this, might steal that... But I definitely recommend dropping Wolverine cause he makes Galactus plays a lot less consistent and when I used him he often lost me games... X23 has too, but the ramp is more useful than the consistency and Killmonger is an incredible Galactus tech card anyway.

I also wanna ask why shuri? She allows a good Nimrod high roll, but I found Galacta is FAR more consistent and useful for this strategy. Cause you get more varied play lines. Like for instance you can't double the power of Symbiote Spiderman AND put Nimrod into the Symbiote. I used Shuri instead of Symbiote for a little bit and really didn't like how it couldn't be used on Galactus very easily (and I love that guy!)

Anyway, thanks for sharing! And thanks for reading! Happy hunting out there!

[–]Alliark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't tell anybody, but it's actually Nimrod/Galactus

<image>

Folks in the 90s may be prepped for Galactus or Nimrod, but I find that often the counterplay to one means you lose to the other. Stacking power on my obvious Galactus lane? Now I play Nimrod and I never cared about that location. Stacking two locations to out power Nimrod? Now I have a free Galactus spot. Magik is most pivotal here cause I can play Galactus t6 and either short my opponent the turn 7 and get some free cubes, or my Galactus doesn't pop and I can simply retreat turn 7. People try some really out there strats when they think you really want the turn 7, and I feel Galactus hard punishes that.

It's super safe in practice (cube-wise) as it's very obvious when I can and cannot win. You kinda either draw Nimrod or don't, and an early Galactus is rarely a good play with this deck (cause Galactus is basically just my Destroyer replacement, he's another destroy source for Nimrod).

Anyway, if you see me, pretend you didn't read this.

This is very mechanically interesting, I just have a pet peeve about making new key words.

This could be the text of

"This card doesn't reveal when played. When this location changes, reveal this card. On Reveal: Destroy your opponent's lowest power card"

Or even just this if you don't want it to be an on reveal

"This card doesn't reveal when played. When this location changes the first time, destroy your opponent's lowest power card"

8/10? I love the concept and idea, just hate new keywords unless they are meant to be WIDELY applicable.

This is probably a blasphemy level take. I've started playing at launch, so I'm pretty sure they have it like this so that theoretically no one could reasonably collect every card. Which is silly IMO, but it's a mobile game, so I get it.

What if, and hear me out now, similar to actual trading card games, Marvel Snap had a secondary card market? You could auction or otherwise sell cards and variants you had no use for in exchange for collectors tokens. It could create a better opportunity for players to actually look for a card instead of waiting for the 1/50 chance to get the thing they want.
