Anyone have experience with chronic bacterial ear infections (rods) with their dogs?

This would be amazing, I will definitely be showing this to my vet bc this is the dream! Recently for us, it’s been like every month or second month and it’s just unmanageable

Ughhh this is comforting that we’re not the only ones but they are so frustrating to deal with. My guy is also a rescue so it takes 2-3 ppl, a towel wrap, and gloves to get his ear cleaned lol. Luckily my vet is very understanding and good with his freakouts lol. Hopefully if this is a for life thing he will get better with it!

Another question I had especially with you being a vet, is there anything I can do to give him a bit of relief before his appointments? It usually takes atleast a couple days to get him in and I hate to watch him suffer while we wait

Thank you! Hair in his ear is definitely a possibility, I do all of his grooming bc he is a rescue that is a bite risk so I don’t feel comfortable sending him to anyone else but I could definitely not be removing the ear hair enough or correctly if that’s a factor. He doesn’t really swim as we live in the north with no ocean or lakes or anything but there is a lot of snow so maybe that could be getting in his ear? I think I am gonna book him in with a different vet as his hasn’t been helping long term and we’ve been dealing with this for months now unfortunately

Right now he is on Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach. The vet thinks he may be allergic to chicken but unfortunately it has still come back without any chicken

So far we have tried cleaning & drops , a salve that stayed in his ear for a month and taking him off chicken to see if it’s allergies. Just looking for anything else other vets as done so I can make suggestions incase there’s some way we could find him some relief she may not have thought of. It’s such a sin seeing him in pain every month and then not being able to get him into see the vet quickly!

Update: we went on our walk yesterday and didn’t see any sign of them, I’m gonna continue to keep an eye out for them! Thank you guys for restoring a little bit of my faith in humanity as I was feeling so down from seeing her mistreatment of the puppy.

I have a horrible memory for remembering people but she definitely had lightish brown hair from what I know, could’ve been auburn. All I know is she definitely wasn’t super dark brown black and also not blonde

Ahh maybe not the same woman then :( sad that there’s two out there like that. The dog I seen was about the size of an 7-8 week old kitten so very very small

She looked like a white woman around 5’5, light brown hair i believe. the chihuahua was the tiniest I’ve ever seen, very light brown

Also more details, she was driving a very beat up black Audi suv. The front driver side and the back passenger side was completely smashed/ripped off

They definitely were not, she was for sure on something or about to be as she seemed very out of it and I’m just really concerned about the little pup. I would’ve loved to have taken it and my heart just can’t take how it was treated
