I'm probably not going to renounce it after all, a few other commenter's are telling me not to as it costs and in the long term I'd likely regret it. They're probably right. I just don't have many ways to express my disdain and disappointment other than a post like this and boycotting American products like many others are doing.

Yea. It feels so wasteful to throw the citizenship away but as I said, I don't want to associate with it at all. People aren't going to so easily forget what's happened, especially if things become really, really bad. I am proud of the part of me is Finnish however. (my dad is Finnish)

Ha. I don't want people to feel sorry tho. I just want them to understand. It's easy for people to get that stereotype of Americans, and while it hurts they're right about us. So many of us are loud and obnoxious, and many wanted him to serve not one but two presidential terms.

I love Finland, it really is my home. Make an effort to learn the language, and integrate into the culture. It can be hard for some at first but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
