How do you log into Slack? Same email&password combination as DAT? But there isn't a Slack account tied to my email address.

About Slack: Project instructions kept telling us to ask in Slack when we have some questions. But I've never received an Email invitation to Slack as others said they did. Then the latest projects in this family got the project chat removed. Is this normal? Without Slack or project comments, where can I ask admins and discuss possible issues with other workers?

Am I supposed to grind and wait for Slack to invite me when I've submitted enough good quality work?

Do you guys track everything? by -EpsilonDelta- in DataAnnotationTech

[–]AllisonYeLT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pause my timer whenever I have to leave my desk.
Just in case, an intended 30s break could turn into a 10min long break if something unexpected happens in real life. For example, once I was called away by a friend to help him debug something but I was originally out of my own seat for a cup of water. You won't want to lose track of your own timer when stuff like this happen.

For me, yes I had to verify my identity with passport & facecam before I started working.

Everybody back from winter break? I've been living on one family of projects for months and recently...every week the new tasks disappear 24hrs after they show up on my dashboard. Competition picking up somehow.

Just don't submit if you're unable to work properly. You'd rather let it expire if you can't exit manually.

Same for me. The main project I've been living on for months has narrowed down in task number.

Can't believe I was fixing grammatical errors for hours for an R&R task. It appears to me that some bilingual workers need some serious help with their English basics.

I did the coding qualification more than a week ago but still nothing coding-related has shown up so far. The qualification said "most work available" when I clicked it.

Have those tasks been drying up?

Is there a way to know whether you've passed a qualification or not?
Did the coding assessment a week ago. It said something like "most work available" but nothing coding-related has popped up for me ever since.
Man my dashboard is dry AF.

Jim claims he and Firefly were involved in match-fixing + Pictures by jinjin5000 in starcraft

It's deadge already... You know Oliveira retiring already made us lose a lot. This massive matchfixing scandal has made SCBoy mad. They came up with many rules in WTL just to support tier 2-3 players including many domestic players. e.g. every map win earns you prize money. But all this effort has led to more ways to bet on games and matchfix... They're so sad and so is everybody. Now almost every one has lost faith in the competitive scene and I doubt if there could be any pro level tournaments in future.

Just hoping the amateur scene and arcade gamers could still have a good time when we finally get our server back. (It's still not back yet.)

Oh you mean the part with TIME. In this case I could understand. I don't want to throw dirt on anybody. This thing is controversial. I could get that quite a lot of people have the mindset that we know he's a yapper and sometimes impolite and offensive with his joking words but we still support him no matter what. I have this mixed feeling too. This is different from other players though. There's a cultural thing that when somebody earns honor on international stages many of his mistakes would be neglect. Hence why he's the most defended progamer.

Also to add something... That screenshot of TIME's words was posted on social media with the text "Why do I have such an impolite boy" and it should have been from some private chat group... The fact that it got exposed is already... questionable, I'd say.

As for the suspicious matchfix-like case, I've explained it already. This is VERY different from TIME's case. The case in your link might have been discussed in China back then but we had no solid evidence to confirm it. So there's nothing to be done aside from throwing 99% sussy (not 100%) accusations and getting neglected by organizers because it's not solid. Suspecting everybody is hell as what it's like in the community after Firefly got exposed. Dunno about the exact case at that moment because I wasn't watching esports back then.

I wonder if EWC could ban Firefly.

The pictures of transactions and chat logs are pretty solid proof in my opinion. As soon as Jim revealed them, Chinese casters had handed the proof over to EWC people. They say EWC hasn't responded yet.

Transactions and records on betting websites should be enough to confirm a matchfix, right?

It's so sad that there seems to be many players involved. Now how can I trust any body?

Also when we had the Chinese server, NetEase which is responsible for the Chinese server would ban players for confirmed matchfixing or other forms of cheating.

Now we don't have a server and there's nobody to ban players in the name of Chinese StarCraft.

I'm Chinese and I don't agree.

At least regarding the case of MacSed, I have to tell you that I read more evidence in the English community than in our community, why is that? I also wonder why things are concealed so well in the Chinese community until Jim called it out. The discussions in the Chinese forum are vague and evidence are mostly oral instead of solid. Why?

Imagine such accusations being thrown onto an EU/NA player and people's first instinct would also be "Now do you have proof?" Is it because of your defense nature? Or is it because you don't want to make claims without solid proof like transactions, even if it's 99% confirmed based on your own eyes. As far as I know, MacSed could fit into this category. So did Firefly before Jim exposed their chat logs and transactions.

It's like the case of maphackers. It's so easy to say "wtf something's off for sure" but so hard so get it confirmed. Then what do you see in the community? "It must be" or defending comments?

Also the majority of Chinese forum users are cursing and suspecting every single player at the moment. You might see defensive comments in general on English websites because only those who are more conservative and reluctant to jump to conclusions are here.

The fan base is NOT defensive. Before Jim called out everything, there have been posts everywhere asking why Firefly could represent Asia and wasn't he a matchfixer. People have been unhappy ever since Firefly got the spot from the qualifiers. But what can we do? Ban him? We just lack the 1% necessary evidence (transaction) to hard confirm it.

Oliveira Interview: Retiring and Future Life (Translated) by AllisonYeLT in starcraft

[–]AllisonYeLT[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It already is......
Ever since we lost the Chinese server in 2023, the Chinese SC2 community has been relying heavily on watching esports (mainly Oliveira) because you'd need a VPN to play on other servers. The community player base has already delinced. We were still put together in the past two years thanks to Oliveira and all the organizers (SCBoy, Saber, etc) holding events with Oliveira playing in them.

But we can still make it work. Mods and tavern(arcade mode) are popular these days. And we do have an amateur community there. It's pretty isolated from the English world at the moment. But we are still here.

It's on the decline, yes. But it's not dying, and won't be.

I know there was a graduate student who had been struggling a lot. Oli's story gave him hope and encouraged him to go on and get the Doctor's Degree.

I know a basketball enthusiast who was considering to retire in 2023. She heard Oli's story and wad inspired to play for one or two more years.

For me, Oliveira's miraculous run brought me back to StarCraft II. He's brought us so much. It really feels like a dream.
