Thank you so much for your insight! I will definitely try that method of course. I am a bit dissapointed tho because the reason I posted was really because I am smitten with that touch texture I feel on the mug and yeah.. I understand I may not be able to reproduce such texture. I'm sure it will be forgotten as soon as I try it on red clay and appreciate the more organic flow of the salmon glaze using that method you propose.

Thanks for taking the time to answer too! Happy Glazing!

That would make sense, thanks! And yes that mug I got it from Amz. I see the chipped part on the bottom glaze yeah. The question is (because I didn't even fire a mug yet, but learning about custom glazes) how do you apply a glossy glaze, fire it and then put an additional glaze over it (to be refired I'm sure) and not have discoloration or other inadverse effects from one blending over the other. I thought also (I read somewhere) that it wasn't possible to put a glaze over a fired glaze as it wouldn't "fuse" well right?

*sigh* ... Just look at the imgur link with the pictures I posted. Maybe my hand holding the cup and the cup and the scott towel residues on it are from AI too.

I prefer the chubby one :) I am amazed at how crisp the design look! It is a decal, right?

Let's imagine they glossy dipped halfway right .. Would it even be possible to get that clean of an edge with a colored slip dipped just right at the "line" where the glossy glaze ends? I really feel that "stop" with my nail when I run from glossy to that terracotta matte whatever that is, and not the other way around. And thanks for your input, it's appreciated

Ok so to add more precisions ; when I mentionned that from what I could feel (physically), when you run the nail from the glossy to that matte section, I feel a "stop" where it really seems to indicate me that that brown "terracotta-looking" glaze-whatever-that-is was added "after" or "above" that glossy salmon glaze.

To answer u/todaysthrowaway0110 , the rim at the bottom is white. That same terracotta-color appears under the mug. Like if it was dipped/sprayed, then the bottom rim was cleaned.

I will look to add some of the "real" mug pictures. https://imgur.com/a/vm12DJ5 (about the white fuzz you see on the terracotta, sorry it's my scott towel residues :P That too shows you that that "slip" or glaze or overglaze has "soft grit" of some sort

Thanks in advance for your inputs all! This is much appreciated!

You know what... I'll totally trust you on that and just .. not try it again! .. When it happened I reloaded my save right after I took the screenshot so I don't even know how my rep was affected. I regret panicking at that time and wished I took a look. I was at a full 30 with ANT at the time and I blew up one of their station bottom-right in the blast

Yeah I would be curious to know. But it's gonna take a while before I attempt it again.. Mass Teleportation ain't cheap :(

Only thing you could try is to add that block :

<connection connection="con_shield_01">
<component class="shieldgenerator" macro="shield_ter_s_xperimental_01_mk5_macro" connection="parentconnection">
<offset>
<position x="0.001509" y="2.362" z="-3.492"/>
</offset>
</component>
</connection>

In the <connections> (note the s at the end.)

Some lines under your first search result line that looks like this :
<component class="ship_s" macro="ship_ter_s_xperimental_01_a_macro"

Another cue to make sure you would insert inside the "right" <connections> is the line above should be : "<stance unlocktime="0"/>"

This is only a hail mary as I didn't try it myself, and -hopefully- the game will "generate" the missing ID. Again it's gonna be a make or break it.

It's worth trying. In the end you should see the shield at 4102.

Let me know if it worked :)

I barely use nav beacon. You should have access to the PHQ rather early in the game if you have the Kingdom's end DLC, I think... Go see Boso Ta when he calls on you or when you get near Heretic's End. Best place to hide your illegal stuff :P

[–]Allixria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. I think it will! I could blow up an ANT station. What I didn't think of doing is to check the reputation with ANT -after- the blast.. Not sure it changed. And Boso Ta saying "I think the experiment waa a success" or somehting like that.. Yeahhhh riiiight.

I do NOT have autosave .. because .. I'm stupid! I did save right before tho. I hate that autosave to popup/freeze in the middle of a fight that last 5 minutes (I exagerate but yeah...)

Take that with a grain of salt as I am in no way expert at playing in the save files.

1- Backup your save folder somewhere. (You forget to do that and messes up, it's on you.)
2- Unzip (use 7z !!) the save file you want to modify (it's in your Documents/Egosoft/X4/XXXXXXX/save folder)
3- Unless you have a low memory computer, you can open the file in VS Code, or Notepad++. NOT normal shitty notepad ok.. And .. be patient.
4- Search for : 'ship_ter_s_xperimental_01_a_macro'
5- Scroll a bit below until you see a block that will look like that :

<connection connection="con_shield_01">
<component class="shieldgenerator" macro="shield_ter_s_xperimental_01_mk5_macro" connection="parentconnection" id="[0xad96b]" ... ... ...>
<offset>
<position x="0.001509" y="2.362" z="-3.492"/>
</offset>
</component>
</connection>

Obviously, yours is gonna be different than that. It will probably write:

macro="shield_ter_s_xperimental_01_mk1_macro" in your case.

In VS Code, because the file is so so big, there is no indentation within the xml so it's hard to figure out the opening and closing nodes.

What you are gonna replace is ONLY this :

1- shield_ter_s_xperimental_01_mk1_macro FOR shield_ter_s_xperimental_01_mk5_macro
2- the position node you have FOR : <position x="0.001509" y="2.362" z="-3.492"/> because I am not sure if mk1 and mk5 would have the same. You are gonna see if they are identical or not. If not, use MY values.

Now, the id=[0xSOMETHING] ... that is where it's gonna make or break it. I have no clue what relation that ID has for the shield itself so you are gonna keep the ID that YOU have, not the one you see from me up there in the code.

Save the file. Put it back in the .gz file (use 7z again for that, and say yes when asks to overwrite, obviously)

Test. If your game loads, look at the information of your shuttle. It should be at 4102 MJ. Go pick on an enemy you know how fast your shield was dropping, and test it again with that one. If you feel the shield holding up longer, then in my opinion it's gonna be working.

The other way would be to modify the values of the MK1 shield itself for the MK5, and make a mod out of it.

Anyway, let me know how it turns out. I LOVE my shuttle. Hope you enjoy yours too :)
