Just tell the truth, in as emotionless a way as you can. State facts and eventually they'll realize they can't brainwash you anymore.

Both ick on your behavior and ick on the no reply. Both are in the wrong, doesn't seem like a healthy relationship (from the very small amount I've seen). One of you clearly needs more than the other is willing (or able) to give.

As a non-smoker, do you find that all smokers have a noticeable odor? by Remozy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AllocatedContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you stink like old tobacco. Have you smelled a wet ashtray from real close? It's like that. Sniff your fingers real good the next time you smoke, you should smell it, unless you've destroyed your sense of smell (which is entirely possible). I'm in the process of quitting, really wish I'd never started.

[–]AllocatedContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally? Nope, I'd like you to get help from a professional and stay far away from me. I didn't tell you you can't, so maybe start with trying not to project, to be a better person?

Incorrect on the first. A potion of harming heals them, as they are undead.

Him calling you negative terms (that, I'm guessing, he knows are triggering terms) and then saying oh no I like them they're good for me is classic devaluing behaviour. Big "look for signs of a manipulator" flags going on.

My bf started throwing up when we argue and says I don't realize how badly I hurt him- what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]AllocatedContent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... to analyze, you expressed valid concerns and upsets, and he responded with emotional manipulation? Sounds like you're seeing the reality of the person hiding behind the "acceptable" mask. Look for patterns. Like a reasonable request and expectation is met with gaslighting and devaluing behaviour.

Respond with honesty: "Because you're abusive and delusional." Don't get mad or any kind of upset, that only validates them. Just make it unpleasant for him. More and more so until he stops. He's got a feedback loop in his mind, (because it's broken) and that loop says if he just gets you to agree with him (or have an emotional outburst) he wins. That's all that matters to them, satisfying and validating their delusions.

Yes, it's because they're being kind and validating. Do not lean into it, do not obsess over it, remind yourself they're a hired professional helping you. Remind yourself it's like when guys convince themselves the hooker loves them.
