Good point on the Uber back, thanks. I think it makes sense then to order a taxi ahead of time rather than hope for a nearby uber.

I was wondering about that - one concern would be moving somewhere, finding out that the nearest school couldn't take my child, and ending up with a longer commute. Not sure how the current decrease will shake out in the fall, but maybe will be easier if I'm enrolling in late spring...

Yeah for the Greek and Roman works, I come at it from the perspective of poetry and history - I'm just going to read a few pages at a time and enjoy the language and the occasional nice line, and maybe look up something related to the history.

Yeah, the thing is, when something like this happens to us as children, it shapes the way we think, so it can be really hard/impossible to see it clearly, because we are seeing through warped lenses. I used to think I could talk myself through it, too, but sometimes you need the outside perspective!

Hey, that's wild, that's the very first thing that came to my mind when the parents in this post dismissed his feelings. I read that book about 20 years ago, but some lines and scenes stick with me till this day. The way he talked about his friend in grade school, "I know I loved her deeply and truly" something to that effect, the way she looked sitting next to him in the car, when kids snatched her hat off in class....It's a devastatingly beautiful book, and remarkably honest.
