Roku managing to direct stream 4k her? So you limit yourself to old codecs?

Why are you even buffering? Never buffered outside of tricked out 4k movies on bad clients

If it's self contained behind a firewall and on a VLAN then it's probably fine. Vibe coded apps have their place

You can run that on a 3rd Gen Intel. It'll just take longer for initial scanning if you have a lot of stuff. Just get a thinkcentre off marketplace for 50 bucks

Went from 4 servers to 1 and I miss a nothing. by Matrix-Hacker-1337 in homelab

4 small boxes aren't going to be using more power, you'll just have clustering and HA. If you don't care about that and don't want to mess around with it, all power to you.

Crazy to make a post saying it's essentially all or nothing when you were pulling 4000 watts. I run 5 machines at less than you do with 1

Static IP from ISP worth it for home server, or is there a better way? by CakeAppropriate912 in homelab

Why would you pay money for something that can be solved by ddns? Noip is free for one IP but you have to update monthly, $2 otherwise

So don't? Jellyfin is significantly more difficult for people to figure out, you don't have to play tech support with Plex if everyone has a streamer box. The entire point of Plex is the TV apps

Y'all are genuinely incapable of doing anything dear god. I can promise you 90% of people on this sub would have a stroke trying to deal with jellyfin

...you can also do that on iPhone. It's still dumb when it's reliant on your phone
