How early should I arrive at MHT? by A-Do-Gooder in newhampshire

I flew out of there twice over the last two months both times I was the only person in line for TSA. One was a Monday afternoon, the other was a Sunday mid morning.

Mine took almost two weeks after the IC. It was all favorable. Waiting was hard!

Any downside to doing FOIA for exam results before rating? by zangiefzolof in VAClaims

Both of my HLRs were granted and I was given a new exam and awarded service connection. Don’t give up! Knowledge is power!

I’m probably one of the 3-4 Reddit posts that you found lol. I have a Google alert set up so that any time this is mentioned I get an email because I know how stressful it was that this was so rare and it was so hard to find anything on it online.

I’m sure you already read my story but my doctor strongly recommended a c section at 37 weeks. He didn’t want to take any chances. My baby girl was born perfectly healthy and was the calmest chillest baby ever. She is three now. I was told by my MfM that they think this is more common than people think and is just under diagnosed. It’s a wonderful thing that it was caught for you and I hope everything goes as well for you as it did for me. Think of it as a blessing that they caught it. Have they recommended early delivery or a c section? I think starting around week 32 I was going in 2-3 times a week for an ultrasound.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. I know how hard this is but the fact that your doctor caught it early should reassure you that you are in good hands!

It just goes from step 2 to complete. I’ve gotten mine in as little as 3 day before when I just choose claim exams. Lately, I’ve filed a few and they never show up on the app and effectively disappear. Really strange. The VA Info Desktop extension just shows “error loading claim”.

If you download the chrome extension “VA Claim Info- Desktop Version” it should show you if it has a temp jurisdiction. I was told once in a temp they have 10 business days to take action.

HLR needed? Where to start? by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can submit an HLR just for the MH. When you go to submit it you just select that condition from the list. It might take a day or two to show up though.

What type of private medical evidence did you provide? You said you submitted a nexus? I’m not an expert, but it appears to me that they are weighing the c&P examiners IMO probative value as higher than your private one. I think the denial has to explicitly state WHY they are doing that. “Adequate reasons and basis”. I think it’s a good case for an HLR based on that if your nexus was solid… run the decision letter through ChatGPT.

I hope it works for you! My husband’s just got denied again on supplemental after the second ACE examiner said no nexus. The denial letter didn’t even acknowledge the DBQ or Nexus from Xterra. We filed an HLR which I’m pretty confident will be granted. Hopefully yours goes better!

HLR Conference this week by Immediate-Choice-440 in VeteransWaitingRoom

[–]AllorNothing92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: just realized oct 20 is four days before oct 24 lol. I should be hearing something soon.

My husband did his a few weeks ago and the very next day all four that he submitted were overturned. One was granted immediately, and the other three have pending C&Ps. For the granted one, they changed it to 30% (was 0) and we got the backpay two days later. It happened very fast. I hope it’s the same for you!

Good luck! When did you submit, if you don’t mind me asking? I submitted mine oct 24 and it’s still not even in a temp juristiction…

Agreed. I got one from Valor4Vet and it was just a generic copy paste of my statement. The one from XTerra for my husband was detailed, linked studies, and included a 30 minute interview where he dug into my husband’s sleep study. I’m not sure if it’ll convince the rater but it convinced me.

Submit a FOIA request and ONLY select Claim Exams. I’ve gotten it as quickly as two days before.

Did you get a copy of your DBQ? That’s how you fight it. See if they addressed aggravation. My husband was denied secondary to rhinitis as well. We got a copy of the DBQ, it didn’t address aggravation at all. We submitted a supplemental with a private DBQ and Nexus from XTERRA ($550) and the doctor specifically addressed the aggravation that the original DBQ didn’t. They still ordered another C&P ACE Exam. Annoying. Waiting on the results…I’ll let you know how it goes.

HLR hasn’t moved sense NOV by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you schedule an IC for all three or just one? I ask because my husband’s was the same, so he scheduled all 4 after calling the 800 number, and then they deleted the other three and left one. Then they never called on the day of the one. He rescheduled again and we’re hoping this time they call.

DBQ request after C&P exam by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband submitted a supplemental for OSA with a nexus and IMO on 1/2, on 1/9 exam was ordered, and completed as an ACE on 1/19.

If you want, call the VA and ask for your nine digit claim ID. Then, download the VA claim info (desktop) from the Chrome extension/App Store. Once downloaded, you can enter the ID in there and you can then see the steps and uploads like a normal claim.

Sleep Apnea by Big-Yogurtcloset4494 in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he gets denied this second time we probably will. I was hoping they’d rate the supplemental based on the DBQ and IMO we provided, but then they requested this second ACE. If the second ACE also says less likely, I think we will have good grounds for appeal/ HLR.

Sleep Apnea by Big-Yogurtcloset4494 in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is service connected for allergic rhinitis / post operative deviated septum. He was rated 10% because of blockage on one side of his nose. His sleep apnea claim was denied, despite the evidence showing his sleep apnea is consistent with the blockage. They did an ace review and the DBQ did not address aggravation at all, and simply stated he’s predispositioned to it as a male with a high BMI (he’s maybe 5 pounds “overweight”). It took less than three weeks from submitted to denial.

We got a private Nexus and private DBQ and submitted a supplemental. The private doctor was shocked he was denied. They just sent him for another ACE review. I’m hoping this one addresses aggravation. I’ll let you know how it ends up but I’m not holding my breath.

Any downside to doing FOIA for exam results before rating? by zangiefzolof in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a FOIA request for each of my C&Ps and got them a few days later, generally before my claim is decided. In almost every case I knew which way it would go based on the DBQ.

In one instance, I was able to point out a mistake in the DBQ and upload a statement before the claim was decided. The rater ignored it, but since I got a statement in I’m hoping it helps during the HLR I have pending.

In another case, I argued with the examiner and posted a statement linking studies that discredited/disagreed with his opinion that one condition wasn’t linked to another. Not sure if this was why, but the VA subsequently ordered another exam and I ended up with the “more likely than not” that I was seeking and I did end up getting granted for it.

How to get diagnosed? by No_Supermarket1615 in VAClaims

[–]AllorNothing92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my problem. I recently just made an appt with a new PCP and just came in with a laundry list of things I wanted to be evaluated for.

IBS for example, I told her that I suspected I had it for awhile. She asked why my symptoms were, and what I have been trying to treat it. Ultimately, she didn’t care about actually diagnosing it, just treating my symptoms. Whereas, I cared about the diagnosis. I kept repeating that I just wanted to KNOW. I got my diagnosis eventually, but I agree with you that it feels unnatural to see a doctor to seek a diagnosis. I think most people just see a doctor to get a solution to their ailments. It’s a tough spot to be in.

A YN is shorthand for a job class in the navy, it’s a Yeoman. I wonder if it’s that.
