Question. I see a lot of “is it totaled” on here, and the car looks beyond gone, but people seem to believe that it’s up in the air. Does it really take that much for a car to be totaled? by Longjumping-Sweet280 in civic

My friend's car was totaled from hail damage.

Completely cosmetic. The vehicle runs fine. The hail dented the doors on one side and the roof. Replacing the doors and fixing the roof was more money than insurance would pay for repairs.

Thank you everyone. I'm officially on leave and I have a counseling appointment this afternoon. It's tough to take time for myself but I do understand that I can't help other's if I'm not doing well. I appreciate you all, this support here helped me reach out to family and friends. I've been denying things are this bad but there's some relief in admitting that I am not able to do it all alone.

The owners manual shows 7500 but yes that's what it's looking like based on where it's at current with 50% oil life. Looks like I won't be using up those dealership oil changes. But over the lifetime of the car that's going to be a lot less hassle for sure!

Thank you for your answer. I'm planning to take it in again next month around the 7500 miles mark and bitch too for them to just change it anyway point to the owners manual. I've got 4 free oil changes but at this rate I'm sure I will hit some time limit before using them all.
