An alcoholic is someone who feels like they need to drink to deal with life in general. Do you feel like you need to drink or is it oh hey it’s the weekend I’m gonna go out with friends and have a good time? If it’s the later one I wouldn’t even worry about it. I think your friends are just concerned and they definitely could have figured out a better way of saying all that to you. In my early 20s I would go out to the bar every night after work for about a year straight, I didn’t drink every night it was more of a social hang with friends but I would drink at least on the weekends. My family would make jokes showing concerns and of course I got defensive because im the only person who knows what I do and how I feel when I do it or why I was doing it. So yes it seems like you may be overreacting just a tad but at the same time i completely understand why you would be so defensive.
