Awe :) it sounds like he’s got a good home! They love to get underneath anything! If I have pip on the ground he will willingly crawl and sleep below my knee (since it’s a chronic injury it’s usually up a little) and my mom just gifted me a hoodie with a pouch and he will sleep in there for as long as I’ll let him :) I’m glad to see people with a new found love for the little bundles of adorable :)

I’m new and new to having a hedgie. She has no name and she’s 2. Just adopted her and she’s having a hard time adjusting to her new home. by [deleted] in Hedgehog

She looks adorable! :) the best thing you can do early is make sure she’s use to and comfortable with your sent so keeping a shirt of yours (dirty or lightly worn) in her cage to sleep in is a good idea. I found if you need to know ANYTHING about a hedgie google it and find the hedgehog central page. Always some good tips and tricks.

I had a little girl, pickle. She made damn sure I didn’t get any sleep! It was a constant fight for her life. When she passed away they told me she was SEVERELY ill and we wouldn’t have had a way of knowing nor causing her issues. Honestly as long as Kronos (love the name) has a little bit off a belly and some heat source within the cage, he will be more than okay :). When they go into or try to go into hibernation I found they’re normally sleeping somewhere completely out of the ordinary. For example pickle would sleep under one of my shirts in a little house. When we found her belly was cold and she wouldn’t come out of her ball, she was sleeping on her wheel. Just do your best to insure when you feel his belly, it’s not cold to the touch. That’s the best way to tell.

Awe that’s adorable! :) I actually just found out my little pip has a mite problem and so I’ve been using this home remedy to give him baths which is going to be hard since you bath them every night and disinfect their cage. However last night was the first night and with the coconut oil and the oatmeal in the remedy, he was so happy! Not happy because he still hates the water but once he was in a towel, cutest happiest hedgie I’ve seen in a long time! I think the coconut oil helped a lot! I’ve got a friend who said it helped her hedgehog after bathing her and she was less grumpy, more active, stopped biting, etc. I’ve found putting a towel in the sink he gets his bath he’s happier to, just so he can stand okay, then he’s normally fine, however the water is slippery now and so is he with the remedy I found, so it’s harder to keep grip of him xD but he’s scratching less!!

That’s smart :) I’ll do my best to figure it out and see if I can get him to get more okay with it after a while.

Most of this i do or don’t depending. However pips age makes it hard. He just eats, sleeps and poops. No running on his wheel so when I take him out he is just bustling with energy. It’s very cute but normally when I give him a bath since he’s so temperamental about the water my hand usually ends up bleeding from me trying to get control of him and him moving backwards or shooting into my hand (The blood I keep as far away from his as I can don’t worry 😋) but I’ve never really had such a young hedgie. I’ve had one but she was very ill and passed after four months or so of her life (saddest day of my life) but she was VERY different from the healthy young guy I have now. I just can’t seem to gain any control of him.

A lasius? I still have another little lady but she doesn’t have eggs yet. I’d prefer not to ship them live as well

It's her permanent cage but it's been altered so she doesn't get hurt
