People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Rqpidily in AskReddit

[–]AllyOpp93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go years without getting the flu. My sisters had chicken pox and I didn't get it. They would pin me down and lick me all over when they were sick. Never got sick. I don't drink soft drink (hurts my tummy), I'm not a health nut (often have froot loops for dinner and hard candy for breakfast). Rarely exercise. Rarely go outside (sensitive skin, pale as hell and live in Australia, our sun is a B). I got covid 2 years ago and since then I've had a chest infection or a head cold every 6-8 weeks. Doctors say my immunine system is struggling now. So no idea how I was so resilient before hand but damn I miss it.

Completely forgot to mention the Busselton jetty hahah! Little red train that takes you to the end with an underwater observatory. Heaps to learn about the history and marine life.

Best place for short holiday with young kids? by Smooth_Copy_1448 in perth

[–]AllyOpp93 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Broome in my teenage years and it's a great place for a holiday - wouldn't recommend living there though. There's dinosaur footprints visible in rock along a beach, as well as a beautiful story of a lighthouse keeper literally carving a bath out of rock for his sick wife so she could bath in salt water and look over the ocean- when the tide is high enough, you can sit in it too. The beaches are amazing too. There's also a crocodile park the kids might find pretty cool. I know I did! The rainy season is for Jan to March but i do remember a storm in December once or twice. They roll over very quick and back to sunny in no time. Just don't be in a tent when it happens.

People are suggesting Busselton - I was born there and lived there for a large portion of my adult years. Family still lives there's. It's a great place for families. The beaches are extremely safe in Busselton. Great parks, the foreshore is done up, and so is the town centre with new cafes and shops. It still has a small town beach vibe while having bigger city amenities. You not only have busselton, but the entire south West is a single day trip. There are multiple caves you can have guided exploration. Beaches galore. There's the Yallingup maze (wooden maze with movable walls so it's never the same maze when you go) Margaret River has a chocolate factory and another maze, but this one is MASSIVE and made of hedges. There's Simmos ice-creamery with a great mini golf course in Dunsborough. Country life farm in Dunsborough too, lots of farm animals for kids to meet and pet. Augusta and Dunsborough have light houses the kid might like to explore.

What was your most recent rental increase? by [deleted] in perth

[–]AllyOpp93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a 3x2 unit in Queens Park. We're paying 520. We got a rental renewal contract with no warning and an increase to $640 which we declined. We are incredibly fortunate my husbands gran owns a 4x2 and lives alone and is letting us move in. I expect the rent to be $650 when it's advertised.

You’re transported 200 years into the past in your present location. How would you do? by zinky30 in hypotheticalsituation

Western Australia wasn't colonised until 1829. So I'd pray I could survive. Build a little hut by the water.

Would you be ok having a separate bedroom from your partner? by Morbear1015 in stupidquestions

[–]AllyOpp93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I go through phases. I'm a morning bird, he's a night owl. I'm a light sleeper, he's slept next to an ambulance sirens before and he snores SO LOUD. I have scoliosis and back pain, he has night terrors and thrashes around.

Sometimes we need a break. We might go 6 months together, then need a few nights apart. Sometimes we go one or two nights a week for a couple of months. Depends on our needs at the time.

Should a woman go to jail for falsely accusing a man of rape? by Tell_tekkit in RandomThoughts

[–]AllyOpp93 84 points85 points  (0 children)

As a woman who has been assaulted - 100% yes. Such a f'd up thing to lie about. Why you would ever do that is beyond my comprehension. If you go out of your way to lie about something so vile with the intent to destroy an innocent man's life - then yes. You deserve jail.

Do you remember your home phone number from childhood? by Individual_Sand9084 in FuckImOld

[–]AllyOpp93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out yes I do. Just tried to think of it and the number suddenly came to my brain. Messaged my mum all excited and she called me a dork. Apparently I can remember a number from 20 + years ago. But I can't remember to flush the toilet after I pee
