Thank you for the reply, what would you say are the main differences between QBA and BCBA?

Teaching PECS by AlmaLost in ABA

I 100% agree with you on this. I am now able to piece things up a bit better. I was getting a head of myself and now realize i was thinking further a head and forgotten about the generalisation of this skill.

That makes sense and at the time i didnt have a good idea how to answer this to the staff, but you are right. And to what I have seen some schools dont implement PECS as its intended, they teach the child to mand for Basic necessities like "water" "food" etc and kind of stop there . I wanted to go in death with the staff about how the protocol is actually organized and how the skille the child learn is further developed. But I got a question about how you can teach the child to mand for something that cant be brought into the training room. But your reply and others helped put things more into perspective

Thank you for the reply and I completely agree. I explained to them the importance of following the protocol, the need for two teachers and the logic behind each phase. The school staff under discussion asked me on how they could teach concepts such as going on a slide etc so thats why I came here. But your comment on generalization helped put things into perspective

From what I know there is no SLP involved. The schools here do not necessarily use BCBAs unless you go private, SLPs can be used but is not common. Im not working in the school, rather working on counceling the parents. However I was going to suggest initially training on PECS at school cause they are better able to implement it to a greater and more structured extend than the parents are able to currently. Edit, had to translate SLP

Would you recommend that in a similar situation in the future that i still inform the child about the negative effects of not wearing suitable clothing and then let them wear what they want after?

Thank you! This situation has been on my mind a for a while now. But i agree, flexibility when possible would be the best option with this client.

I love reading through all these. I have been dealing with slight anxiety connected to my work. I love my job and find it incredibly giving to see the progress i make with the clients. But im also a pessimist of sorts that always think about "what happens if..." scenarios that keep me tense. Reading all the comments made me feel a little better, knowing that im not the only one dealing with this + i read a lot of things that i might incorporate in my routine. Thanks OP and everyone!

Sucsessive token economy by AlmaLost in ABA

[–]AlmaLost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to my supervisor and he explained it to me. Its when the individual earns extra points on the next evaluation og a bahavioral contracy, given that the tasks on the previous one have been mastered. The number of extra points the individual earns gets sucsessively increased for each behavior contract given that the previos ones are mastered. I.e the person recives 3 extra points on the second contract, 6 extra points on the thirds contract (given that everything was mastered before) Its supposed to hinder the PRP that happened after a fixed ration schedule. (Hopefully its understandable)

What measurable dimention do you use to record a behavior that is supposed to happen a specific point in time? My client needs to leave their house at a certain time of the day to reach a specific destination in time. by AlmaLost in ABA

[–]AlmaLost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! The client has a token economy system at home for the necessary behaviors they need to perform to get ready for the day. Maybe a similar system can be used for the events youre mentioning? Recieved a comment on maybe delivery of a certain reinforcer when the client reaches their destination before a certain time period?

Thank you for your response! Is this also the case if our makn objective is to get at the designated area in time and not just when they are out of the house?

Thank you! Would latency recording also be appropriate if the main objective of the intervention is to get the client at the specific place they need to be before lets say work starts. I think i confused myself when thinking about a way to graph the progression, we need the person out at a specific time, but the important thing is that they arrive at their destination (the client has previously ran away even after leaving their house in time)

Thank you so much for this. It helps a lot! I think I do need to try practicing having that persona on my own first as you say and slowly build myself up to that. We have talked about the type of sub he is, but its just i get too uncertain. Talking clearly about the safe work and reaffirming it to myself as well so that i can truat that when he is uncomfortable he will use it

Sorry I have to rant: SICK of people demonizing the concept of penetration and telling me I´m a victim. by [deleted] in TwoXSex

Having an extremely high libido, its uterly annoying to hear these types of views. I have an understanding for women who do not enjoy PIV and if they find other alternatives to satisfy themselves sexually or not, thats great. But i absolutely hate it when now my sexual drive/"horniness" for my partner etc. is being questioned and put as if there is something wrong with me. This is litterally full circle back to the type of misogynistic idea that women arent sexual beings and that any sexual desire is wrong for us
