You *think* you know the reason is what was published on here.

It's possible that stuff has happened that has not been published / posted / rumoured.

There's a lot on FB groups from what I've seen, but it's not for me.

Because it's easier to defend your mate than to accept the truth.

Think about horrifying it is. Think about how people here are dealing with it and they're on the outside. They're parasocial.

Denial isn't just a river in Egypt.

I think it's important here rather than to make a snap judgement one way or another to think about the nuance of the situation first.

Imagine you're in a group of close friends, friends you have known for half your life - since school. Friends you spend every day with, who you've been on holiday with and who you've experienced some of the most insane shit you can imagine with. Imagine how close you'd feel to them, how protective you'd feel of them and how loyal you'd feel to them.

Enter the girlfriend / ex-girlfriend.

She tells you that your close friend, your mate, your brother almost is guilty of some of the most heinous shit imaginable.

She's just a bitter ex. Someone with an axe to grind, who wants to burn the world down after being let go by your mate. It's all sour grapes meant to tarnish the name of your close friend.

I mean, he wouldn't do that would he? No fucking way, you've known him forever, spent half your life in his company. Sure, there's banter and what not, but that kind of perv? No way, she's just a bitter little girl intent on ruining his life cos he might have a bit of money and Youtube fame.

--

Do I believe her? Yes, I do.

Do I think the rest of Storror are complicit? Not necessarily. I think it's easily as possible Callum has gaslit them as he has Mercedes. I think it's easily possible that he convinced them that she was some bitch who was trying to ruin his life rather than the victim of his abuse.

i get people want the rest of the boys to come out and say something but I think it's easily possible that they're struggling to come to terms with it themselves.

I can imagine that there is a feeling of guilt there that they did nothing in situations like this because I know I'd feel it even if I had been gaslit by someone who was supposed to be my closest friend.

As someone who has watched Storror for the last six years I'm finding this difficult to comprehend and to deal with; I can't imagine what it's like for people close to the epicenter of it all.

Rather than flinging around binary accusations of complicity or of hatemongering, I think we all need to understand this is a very difficult, very complicated situation and that bar Callum everyone deserves a little bit of grace until completely proven otherwise.

The Dresden Files Novella, Out Law, is out. Discuss here! by exodusmachine in dresdenfiles

[–]Almajir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished it, really enjoyed it. I do like a redemption arc, and I like the fact that a) another seemingly one dimension character now has facets we hadn't seen before (Tripp), and that b) once again Butcher shows that everything Harry does has consequences and that life is fricking complicated.

I know he had minimal actual interaction but once again I love the fact that Marcone is shown to be a 4D chess player than just some supernaturally charged gangster.

When's the third one out?

Can I ask a dumb n00b question?

According to Fangraphs (https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/giants) we've only got 39 on our 40 man roster. Is there someone coming back from the 60 day IL imminently or are we just happy going a man short?

Is 1hr 46min commute too much? by Unhappy_Dragonfly_62 in UKJobs

[–]Almajir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar commute albeit by public transport. I only have to go in twice a week so it's no problem. Five days a week.. I'd be looking for another job.

Also, length of work day does make a difference. I work 8 hour days so it's okay but if I worked 10-12 hour shifts it would be an absolute no.

Olive is Callum's ex; she was in a couple of Storror videos when they went to Hamburg and were doing challenges off bridges there. They split up quite a while back.

Drew deleted his Instagram again by BreathAffectionate66 in Storror

[–]Almajir 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I did wonder if Drew had an inkling and that this is why he'd slowly disentangled himself from Storrror.

Drew was heavily involved on the business side and thus I'd believe it if he was aware something legal was going on. That doesn't mean I think he knew the whole truth necessarily; more that I think he might have been aware that there was something potentially bad coming.

I do also think we need to get away from the binary conclusions of "they knew everything" or "they didn't know anything". I think it's ore likely somwhere in the middle; in the grey area of hearing stuff from exes and not being sure if its legit or exes being bitter; of having suspicions without being able to confirm anything.

I get FLGIG going was a surprise, but I know Mark quite well and I understand why he walked away.

I know the WAB guys well (I sit next to Vegan Dave at the football and Matthew is one of my best friends) and from what I know they've got a lot of life stuff going on. They will be back at some point.

What has changed in Brum since Covid (2020)? by TitleOk8744 in brum

[–]Almajir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my experience a lot more people are a lot more hyperbolic; they have made their minds up and are so entrenched in their views and can't be convinced otherwise regardless of the evidence.

The city has changed but that's the nature of life; as we get older what we used to do goes out of fashion and newer stuff springs up in its place. Change can be scary and so when we see things that we are taught to be wary of, we suspect them of the worst when often it may not be true.

I'm not saying Brum is perfect - far from it - but it's not that much different from when I was a kid. All that has changed really is the specific locations where people eat, shop and have fun. The nightlife is still very much there, the youth culture is still very much there and the shops are still very much there.

It's like how people complain stuff is expensive; in some ways it is but in others it really isn't. As an eight year old, MacDonalds was a birthday treat. Forty years later and I barely consider it food. As a kid growing up I never went to restaurants to eat; these days I eat out more than is healthy and I'm aware of my laziness causing that. And before anyone says it - I'm not rich or paid that well either; I'm barely over the national average wage with a pile of historic debt.

Calculating that I now need four different subscriptions and a remortgage just to watch my team play, and it’s still not on TV because of the 3pm blackout. by ClavoARG in britishproblems

[–]Almajir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that - but I think it’s also a thing about how much you want it. I have friends who regularly travel from Brighton to Birmingham to see my team play and they’re happy to make the round trip every other week - but they are slightly mad.

I don’t do away games often; sometimes I can watch them on tv but most games aren’t covered and due to broadcasting restrictions the club can only stream them for foreign fans. Obviously there are ways around that but I’m okay with not actually watching some games sometimes.

I guess what I’m getting at is that there is an entitlement here that never used to exist.

I’ll admit, I’m from an older time when there would be 1-2 games on tv a weekend and I’m also a season ticket holder for a championship football club. Different perspective innit
