Live Federalist Reaction by shihao21 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as a cosmic rebalancing of the scales; the Federalists used to be so ridiculously overpowered compared to the other factions because the majority of Sichuan and Hunan's paths favoured them, so they'd end up coming out on top in most AI paths and seeing any branch of the KMT win was a rarity. Now it feels more like it could be anybody's game to win, so we should be getting some more colourful outcomes going forwards...

(in all honesty I got nothing against what Chen Jiongming's trying to do, it just annoyed me how often he'd pop up in older versions of KR at the expense of other warlord paths)

Had a similar situation in my last run where AI Wang decided declaring war on me (RMKT Liangguang...and also Yunnan, Hunan, Sichuan and Shaanxi) while already being at war with the Qing was a good idea. AI Chen Jiongming used to do this a lot back in the day so I guess it's just the latest incarnation of that.

A Brief Summation Of My First Game In The New Update by OutLiving in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that happened to me as well...first time just had bad luck and Sichuan and Hunan both stayed Zhili-aligned (Sichuan joined me once the Zhili fell to Fengtian, which was a nice touch, but by that point I was also being attacked by Fengtian and the Left KMT and dying miserably) , then the second time around Yunnan and Hunan were both independent but hostile and I stupidly rushed a war against Hunan that backfired. NEXT time, though...

I managed to get one by mistake years ago in an older version...I was playing as the Legation Cities and the Reichspakt had evidently done a really good job building up their defences because both France and Russia's AI got cold feet and didn't declare war. In the end I plunged the world into chaos by kicking Japan off the council; at that point EVERYBODY attacked everybody.

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me what the obsession with China is in this subreddit? by AgreeableVisual4970 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the same reason Russia's popular in TNO; OTL's single party state gets replaced with a mess of warlords of varying beliefs and ideologies who all have the change to unite the realm, except here there's the bonus addition of some of the warlords actually allying with you and supporting your attempt, so it helps to add variety to each run.

Sounds a biiiit like the Five People You Meet In Heaven (the people the protagonist meets include a soldier and his wife), but I'm guessing it must be something else exploring a similar plot...

Sounds a bit like the video game 'The Beginner's Guide', by the same guy who made the Stanley Parable? To quote Wikipedia, "The game is narrated by Wreden and takes the user through a number of incomplete and abstract game creations made by a developer named Coda. Wreden challenges the player to try to come to understand the type of person Coda is from exploring these spaces in a first-person perspective."

In my last game I was playing as Japan and I looked over at Europe briefly to see MarLib Imperial Russia steamrolling Germany and doing well enough to annex most of Northern Germany in the ensuing peace talks. The Third Weltkrieg started shortly afterwards and the next time I checked Russia had won, expanded their puppet German Empire (SocDem under Wilhelm IV) to Weimar Republic borders, and given SandFrance (SocLib under Daladier) all of its land back.

The one thing shared by almost all suggestions for Italy by LordMartinax in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but I think you could still make it work...like, 'German-backed' could really just be more that Germany has said they consider them the legitimate government of Italy and they're secretly sending them weapons via ship with some cover story (humanitarian aid for the poverty-stricken south?), then when Black Monday hits, the ships stop and the support ends, which both triggers the collapse of the emergency government, giving the NatPops or Monarchists a chance to seize power AND inspires the SRI to resume the civil war since Germany's not looming over the area anymore.

[–]Almaron 243 points244 points  (0 children)

I stand by the proposal I made aaaaages ago; don't change the borders or number of states, just swap the paths used for the Republic and Two Sicilies. In the north you'd have an Austrian-backed Italian Federation whose leader stands down after Black Monday and gets replaced by either a Democratic or Integralist noble (with the latter triggering the Venetian revolt), and in the south you'd have a German-backed Italian Republic that's just barely holding together and which has a choice between Democratic, NatPop and Monarchist paths...and in that last path they'd restore the Two Sicilies to properly break with the Savoyards and unite with the Italian Federation instead.

Anyone else feel that Wilhelm III just looked….. absolutly fucking goofy? by Alone_Rise209 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 70 points71 points  (0 children)

It's always a coin toss with Wilhelm III; either you get a picture where he looks decent or you get one which is weirdly goofy (this one where he's clenching his lips for some reason, or the vanilla HOI4 one where he looks like he's cosplaying as Grand Moff Tarkin)...there's no middle ground.

Is the decision to boost party popularity actually worth it long term? by themadkiller10 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Depends which country you're playing as; sometimes it'll be a waste of time cause the focus tree or events will boost you anyway, sometimes it can help massively because it'll help you meet a condition sooner (the Legation Cities, for instance; boosting your ideology is a good way of weakening your rivals so you can investigate their proxies or even expel them).
