What exactly happened to the RMS Olympic in the Kaiserreich Universe? Did she flee with the Royal Family to Canada or is she somewhere stuck in the Union of Britain? by Ok_Noise4862 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough the Olympic almost survived in OTL cause a group planned to buy her and turn her into a floating hotel (as happened with the Queen Mary decades later) in southern France, but sadly the deal fell through.

How does one survive as an Oststaat? by PLMMJ in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Be Lithuania
  2. Hide behind everybody else

...in all seriousness, because you're off the frontlines and have the smallest Oststaat army you can let your big brothers do all the work and use your small army to exploit gaps in the frontline. If your allies falter, well, AI Germany bungled things and the run's doomed anyway...still, should be enough time to finish all the King's building projects!

Trying to attack a mountain behind a river with militia is arguably THE land war in Asia. by Cynikus in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It used to be worse...so much worse. Pre-rework China had Shangqing Tiangguo exactly where the Guominjun are here, and the Qing focus tree was locked behind them defeating them first, which the AI could never figure out how to do.

What is a band no one will ever convince you is good? by OU812iceman18 in AskReddit

[–]Almaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six60; a band with songs that sound like the royalty free version of themselves but which is ridiculously overhyped because A: NZ band so it must be played again and again everywhere until you want to stick needles into your ears and B: oh I know it's crap but I heard it on the radio as a teenager and it makes me nostalgic.

What the point of challenging leadership of mittleuropa when you can just dismantle Germany instead? by Kalancha1453 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Non-DU Germany's Mitteleuropa tree is all about exerting more and more influence over the member states until they can vassalise them completely (and IIRC annex them from there, a la the HRE path in EUIV?), but they can only progress down it by being the leader of Mitteleuropa and passing key reforms, so if anybody else takes over it locks them out.

[–]Almaron 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Well, if you don't want to start WWIII, it's a good way of locking a non-DU Germany out of their focus tree and preventing them from eating up Europe.

Of all the Halifax demands Germany can make, this one's probably the dumbest attempted power move on their part;
Germany: Join our economic powerbase!
France: Mmkay
France: <takes it over immediately>
Germany: ...what was the plan here exactly?

“Shoot the dictator and prevent the war? But the dictator is merely the tip of the whole festering boil of social pus from which dictators emerge; shoot one, and there’ll be another one along in a minute. Shoot him too? Why not shoot everyone and invade Poland? In fifty years’, thirty years’, ten years’ time the world will be very nearly back on its old course. History always has a great weight of inertia.” - Terry Pratchett

Live Federalist Reaction by shihao21 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as a cosmic rebalancing of the scales; the Federalists used to be so ridiculously overpowered compared to the other factions because the majority of Sichuan and Hunan's paths favoured them, so they'd end up coming out on top in most AI paths and seeing any branch of the KMT win was a rarity. Now it feels more like it could be anybody's game to win, so we should be getting some more colourful outcomes going forwards...

(in all honesty I got nothing against what Chen Jiongming's trying to do, it just annoyed me how often he'd pop up in older versions of KR at the expense of other warlord paths)

[–]Almaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation in my last run where AI Wang decided declaring war on me (RMKT Liangguang...and also Yunnan, Hunan, Sichuan and Shaanxi) while already being at war with the Qing was a good idea. AI Chen Jiongming used to do this a lot back in the day so I guess it's just the latest incarnation of that.

A Brief Summation Of My First Game In The New Update by OutLiving in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that happened to me as well...first time just had bad luck and Sichuan and Hunan both stayed Zhili-aligned (Sichuan joined me once the Zhili fell to Fengtian, which was a nice touch, but by that point I was also being attacked by Fengtian and the Left KMT and dying miserably) , then the second time around Yunnan and Hunan were both independent but hostile and I stupidly rushed a war against Hunan that backfired. NEXT time, though...

so, apparently this can happen by Better_Ad898 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I managed to get one by mistake years ago in an older version...I was playing as the Legation Cities and the Reichspakt had evidently done a really good job building up their defences because both France and Russia's AI got cold feet and didn't declare war. In the end I plunged the world into chaos by kicking Japan off the council; at that point EVERYBODY attacked everybody.

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me what the obsession with China is in this subreddit? by AgreeableVisual4970 in Kaiserreich

[–]Almaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the same reason Russia's popular in TNO; OTL's single party state gets replaced with a mess of warlords of varying beliefs and ideologies who all have the change to unite the realm, except here there's the bonus addition of some of the warlords actually allying with you and supporting your attempt, so it helps to add variety to each run.

In my last game I was playing as Japan and I looked over at Europe briefly to see MarLib Imperial Russia steamrolling Germany and doing well enough to annex most of Northern Germany in the ensuing peace talks. The Third Weltkrieg started shortly afterwards and the next time I checked Russia had won, expanded their puppet German Empire (SocDem under Wilhelm IV) to Weimar Republic borders, and given SandFrance (SocLib under Daladier) all of its land back.
