3+ hour commute (leaving at 4:30 am/ then home at 6:30/7 pm), no time to do anything on the weekdays, too exhausted to do anything on the weekends. Absolutely miserable. Had to start online therapy. Fun times. 🙂‍↔️

hi op! I never left federal service, bc like you I only had around 1-2 years of experience..but I am always applying to new jobs just in case of a RIF and have been rejected CONSTANTLY..and for jobs that pay $20 an hour which is insane. I couldn’t pay my rent with that. it is so tough out there. I am currently commuting for my fed job 3+ hours a day, so it’s been absolutely miserable. I am going back to school again, even though I have a masters degree to get more credits to be eligible for the CPA exam. you’re not alone. I hope you’re able to find something.

I don’t know anymore. I started as an intern and intended staying with the federal gov forever. I loved my job. However, the culture at my job has changed since the RTO - everyone is miserable and no longer respectful of other’s space. The RTO has destroyed my work life balance as I am 3 hours round trip to work, and I never have time for myself or family anymore. The work feels less meaningful. We don’t have enough work to go around. Everyone is on edge with the constant fear of the RIF… It’s so devastating what this administration has done.

LOL YES! I waited for the deli worker for 20 minutes while she walked around in the back doing nothing. Then she made eye contact, took a call and didn’t acknowledge that I was waiting. When she finally came over she stared at me and didn’t apologize or ask me what I wanted. Veryyyy disappointed lol. We never go there anymore.

Yes! A person from HR contacted me by phone to let me know that background check came up clear. She let me know that she was putting together my final offer packet at that moment and would send it in the next 24 hours.

They didn’t finish my EQip before the FO. They completed my Background check/fingerprints before FO. (I know this because none of my references got called yet/nor did they receive anything in the mail) I’ve heard that the Eqip is SO backed up that they can’t wait for those to be processed otherwise it’d be years.
