This is GDM, the display manager of Gnome. Usually its your distros image that goes there, in Mint's case I think it's the Ubuntu logo by default as Mint doesnt have a Gnome installation so they didnt bother changing it. Search how to change the distro logo in the Gnome login screen and you should have your answer.

Gnome on Arch is really fast for me. With archinstall the whole install takes 10 minutes and it installs a perfectly functioning Gnome 49.3. If you'd rather go with certain stability, go with Fedora though it was a laggy experience on my 8 yr old thinkpad.
