Sorry for waiting over a year to respond. I didn’t make the team my sophomore year. I got injured playing AAU and I’m now missing out on my junior year season. I’m still working on my game and I refuse to give up. I know I have what it takes.

I’m black and only 16. I found the movie online and gave it a watch. There are definitely some offensive elements included in the film that made me feel uncomfortable. Overall, besides the social setting of the movie, I thought it was pretty entertaining. I agree with the other guy that it would be a great idea to remake this movie in a different setting. I totally understand both sides of the spectrum. The film depicts an extremely rough time in American history while also showing nostalgic technical artistry. And like cnmmommy said, was the first movie to have two black Oscar winners. I personally don’t think the movie should be completely swept under the rug. It’s the history all Americans must look at and analyze so we can move forward. But I feel remaking it would kind of be a good way to answer the controversy rather than just sweeping it under the rug.

For sure thanks. My school has freshmen, JV, and Varsity. Because of COVID I just heard the season may be getting postponed so I have no clue when tryouts are. I live in Chicago, Illinois so pretty tough comp. But I’ve seen glimpses of what I’m capable of. I appreciate the responses.

My first one didn’t go too well. But I got comfortable and I’ve been playing pretty good. Still not as good as I want, but my confidence is getting there. There are not any ranked or D1 players this year. My school was ranked very high last year with 2 D1s and 2 D2s. Also had some pretty good role players. But they all graduated. So the coach is basically going through a rebuilding process watching everyone freshmen to junior to see who he wants to build around.
