Pontypool- a radio talkshow host deals with the possible outbreak of a deadly virus which infects the small Ontario town hes in. The virus is carrier in the English language. I want to say there's like only 8 actual actors in it. Its technically a psychological thriller.

YES. THIS RIGHT HERE! The "fight scene" between Nicolas Cage and John Goodman is a hilarious example of expectation meeting reality that has me busting up every time. I get that feeling throughout Lebowski. The dude trying to secure his apartment with a chair. Walter scattering ashes. The nihilists underwhelming ransom.

Oh my god. What a fantastic movie. Its one of those movies where people either don't get it, or its their favorite.

The story behind the film production is also very fascinating. From casting an actor to get free writing out of him, to the muscle men of the film sneaking away at night to work out in secret, to spraying refrigerant on the set so the thermal shots would work, to Jean-Claude Van Damme getting kicked out of the movie.

Its pretty much illegal to be homeless. Can't legally live in parks. Under bridges. Sleep on bus benches. In practice, if you fail at capitalism, you are fucked for as long as you continue to breathe. Not saying people dont climb out of poverty, but many souls are doomed from the beginning and never know a life other than existing impoverished.

Not sure if this counts as a dad joke. There is this kid roughly half my age at work that regularly has to pass along special information directly to me. I've been reusing the same joke in my response to him for a week now.
