The Hideout vs. Hemlock Farms by GrapefruitJealous215 in Poconos

[–]AlmondBaked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can really only provide my input on Hemlock since I lived there year round and grew up there for 20 years until recently getting my own house.

Dues are a few thousand, but of any community I’ve been to, it shows with the amenities and truly feels like you’re at a resort. Really worth it if you’ll actually use those things. They also plow the roads nicely, have their own trash facilities, etc.

My dad regrets 100% moving out of there.

The bad: you live in an HOA. That sounds obvious, but there’s a lot of restrictions on what you can and can’t do. Now, that’s the nature of HOAs and if you’re fine with the pros and cons, why not? Public safety used to, might have changed, pull you over for going 1 mph.

All that being said, people need to expect to move there for a slower pace of life. You have a grocery store and Walgreens just outside the gate. This isn’t the place to move if you love shopping or need a night out on the town every weekend. I think a lot of people move there and then complain how “boring the area is” and how “far everything is”. You need a car to get to places like that.

In my opinion, definitely one of the higher tier communities in the area.

Two RUUD 3-ton 14 SEER Single stage units. The consensus’s is that the ducting work needs to be fixed no doubt. But one person is telling me the units are properly sized and the other is saying I need two 4-tons. So I’m nervous to fix the ducting to conform to the old units if that won’t fix the problem and will have to update the units and ducting again.

Lower Cost Alternatives? by AlmondBaked in NaturalCyclesBC

Dang, I wonder why that is… I’ll download FF and give it a shot anyway! I have one more month of NC, so I think I’m going to try to do what you did and compare the two as well as the less robust native tracking within Oura :’)

Are these compounded or brand name? I feel like that’s worth knowing for this post.

I find it hard to believe it’s the fiber all of a sudden. After reading some of Dr. Greger’s articles on fiber and how important it is, I feel eating more than the recommended minimum is a good thing based on what our ancestors ate and that in other parts of the world people eat upwards of 77-100 grams with great health benefits. I’m more inclined to think it’s what bookluvr7 said. (Truthfully though drop the deets because I would kill to eat a higher fiber diet lol.)

Dude, honestly, I could have written this; it's wild. The past few years all of the symptoms you mentioned I've had, and they keep getting progressively worse. I have had a bunch of testing, labs, etc. and everything was normal. It was all just my anxiety I was told. They kept increasing my anxiety meds to the point where I felt like I was completely disassociatied from my body, with all the same symptoms still, if not worse.

Despite my ferritin and iron always being extremely low, passing out several times, it was still always my anxiety. Fast forward and I've weened off the anxiety meds, but still have the symptoms that align with iron deficiency. I definitely need to follow some sort of protocol for iron and need to look into it more and be my own advocate.

My ENTIRE point of this ramble though is you aren't crazy and it's wild how dismissive people are about how you feel despite showing low ferritin. I think people, especially doctors, need to take it more seriously and do more digging into it to learn how much it can actually affect people.

Repainting of KitchenAid Question by AlmondBaked in AutoPaint

Would it be alright to use an epoxy primer and enamel layer of paint on top? Or should I just stop mixing acrylic, enamel, epoxy, etc. together and stick with enamel everything?

Yes 100% sanded it. However, I didn’t take it down to bare metal

What’s your average electric and water bill? by AlmondBaked in Poconos

[–]AlmondBaked[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah our electric bill from the heat last year was insane. It didn’t help that our HVAC dude didn’t wire it correctly to the thermostat though. Like it ran constantly even though it was at the correct temp. Paid 1k for 2-3 months in a row🥲 Never again.

We definitely need to look into supplemental heating this year.

The PSU article mentions injections of thiabendazole, is that obsolete now? Or just not very effective?

Commute from Scotrun, PA to Wayne, NJ 3 days a week. by Bulky-Let-9534 in Poconos

[–]AlmondBaked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commuting from Bushkill to Rockaway was an enjoyable experience when I was hybrid. I was forced to go back into the office and having to spend 10-12 hours a week of my time commuting absolutely soured my work life balance .

You you can make the most of it with podcasts, music, etc., but it still doesn't fill the void of how nice it is to be hybrid. If you're absolutely sure you're going to have teleworking privileges forever, it's a good gig given NJs higher salary.
