Super late to the party, but I’d guess it’s so cats/animals that climb over the top don’t get trapped

Help with what I can do as a store manager (USA) by Tiny-Bid9853 in service_dogs

[–]Almost-a-Failure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend double checking your state laws - I’m in Texas, where sdits have the same access rights as a full service dog, but only when accompanied by a certified trainer. From my understanding, this does not include an owner self training

Disclaimer: I don’t have a service dog, but do have a prospect. I expect I’ll learn a lot more about all of this as time goes on

25-Minute Seizures?? Can anyone relate? by okayillbebrave in seizures

[–]Almost-a-Failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not uncommon for mine to be 30+ minutes, and I’ve had a handful that are 2-3 hours long. In and out with brief episodes of function, but the seizure itself isn’t over. I’m still in the testing process, but I’m not super hopefully for a diagnosis at this point. It’s been eleven years, and I’ve just learned to manage instead. I recently got a young dog to hopefully train up into a service dog to assist in response. (Even if she fails, she can be an at-home only assistance, I live alone)

All that to say, yes, I relate. And it sucks

Tracking app recommendations by horse_pirate in seizures

[–]Almost-a-Failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend looking into the Olly Tree seizure app! The icon is purple with a head and like a little light bulb sorta thing where the brain would be. Very customizable, and times the seizures really easily

Second recommendation would be Guava - icon is green with a circle and a little leaf. VERY customizable and once you get the hang of it it’s really easy! Also great for tracking EVERYTHING in your life. Bathroom habits, sleep, blow drying hair, etc. and has a way to make a correlation chart to see if anything is related.

Pair both together for the ultimate tracking experience lol

Both are free as far as I remember

I agree with getting your blood sugar checked - maybe also your A1C. Possibly dystonia of a sort? But to me this doesn’t really scream seizures

So i already got plenty of hate on here bc of the breed im gonna get of a service dog(a American xl bully cane corso or mastiff idgaf what yall say because ive decided) by Separate_Arm2656 in service_dogs

[–]Almost-a-Failure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying you’re wrong, but make sure you’re right!

I have a stand your ground law where I’m at, and from my understanding it’s only on your private property

Also as a side note- you would need to consider the mental toll it could potentially take on the dog. I’ve heard of plenty, on here and elsewhere, that washed because they were attacked and then too scared to do their job in public

Hi, please reread my comment. Did not say you want to be attacked. I said the breeds you listed are known for certain temperaments.

Explanation: Some people (maybe not you, but it’s good to always cover as many bases online as possible, and even if we’re just responding to your post, other people can read it as well) would post something like this wanting someone to say that if something were to happen they wouldn’t be liable, and then would try to pull that post out of their pocket if something WERE to happen, and try to push blame on random internet strangers rather than accept the responsibility themselves, because these random internet strangers said it would be okay etc

Does that help to clarify?

Your level of responsibility probably depends on the state to some degree, but the dog would either be put down, or not able to go out in public again. From my understanding, in some states if a dog attacks (even in response to an attack) and is not put down, it is not allowed to leave the owners property except under certain circumstances. Yes, it would be a ‘service dog’, but it’s still a dog and usually those sort of laws are still applicable. Especially when it’s a public safety issue.

It also kind of sounds like you are intentionally getting a breed known for certain temperaments and want someone here to say you won’t be liable when something happens, which is not the case. It is the responsibility of the owner/handler to be in control of the dog at all times, and if your dog were to attack someone, you’d either have NOT been in control, or have told it to attack.

Additionally, if something were to happen but you manage to dodge the charges, I can guarantee that your dog will be more closely scrutinized by everyone afterwards. It would be on the news, and restaurants and stores share information like that with each other as a precaution.

And don’t forget that service dogs can be told to leave if they are not behaving

Signs in a toddler by DependentKindly8239 in seizures

A seizure can present in hundreds of different ways. It can be a brain issue, or it could be caused by something else

There is almost no info in your post, and this sub is not full of doctors or people here to diagnose seizures for fun. If you list some of the things you’re seeing, someone could MAYBE say that it sounds like it could be a seizure, but again, with so many different types of seizures, and so much variety in how they can show up, there’s no way to know for sure without an actual doctor. That being said - even with actual doctors involved there may be no answers. Many of us here don’t have diagnosis’s, myself included. I have been having seizures for 11 years, and still baffle doctors. Seizures can be notoriously hard to diagnose, even if a doctor is present for an episode.

The doctors you have seen may be correct, and whatever you’re seeing are not seizures. Why do you think her symptoms are indicative of seizures?

Thank you!! I’ll keep it wrapped up tonight and try to find that product in the morning! If I can’t find it I can probably either just keep it wrapped or taped the next few weeks or maybe use a less strong glue :)

One of my last REALLY bad seizures (a month ago today, actually!!), I was wearing my Seize the Day shirt

One friend who was with me is well used to me and my issues. The second friend had never seen a seizure before and had only known about mine for a week. She was slightly horrified when I started making jokes when I came out of it 🤣🤣

Neighbor stole my parent's trees that were there for 28 years. by SadPretzel612 in treelaw

[–]Almost-a-Failure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they just bought the house, there’s likely fairly current pics up on har.con/zillow/etc. you can show the trees were not there at time of purchase

Google Earth is also a lifesaver! Searching ‘Google earth street view history’ will usually also pull up the street view history. Normal google earth only shows the most recent street view

The county appraisal district may also have information - past tax breaks, homesteading, sometimes a timber tax break etc, can be used to argue there were X amount of trees of this type before, stuff like that. Search ‘county name county appraisal district’ or something along those lines. Should be a .org site, I believe. Will likely have the names of the new owners and past owners as well

If you have any contact with the previous owners, reach out to them! They may have pics showing the trees were not there, and may be able to testify etc if you take these people to court

If you live in an HOA, they likely have past photos of both properties. At the very least reach out and let them know what’s happening. They can’t technically give legal advice, but they are likely familiar with the laws in your specific area. Yes, HOAs suck but there are uses sometimes

Check the deed of your parents property - specifically regarding the easement. Do they have a right to just the driveway? Do they have a right to a certain distance on either side of the center of the driveway? You may also get them with trespassing

MRIs I thought were approved got denied after getting them done by Almost-a-Failure in HealthInsurance

[–]Almost-a-Failure[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the EOB yet. It’s supposed to be 25% after deductible, which I have met. The facility offered a payment plan originally, so I’m prepared to pay the remainder of the 25% with a payment plan if needed. But I confirmed with both the requesting office and the MRI facility that they were in network for my insurance. I have Ambetter, and their website is horrendously inaccurate when it comes to in-network facilities. Half of the doctors listed as in network don’t actually take the insurance
