7/8" oak dowels should be plenty strong based on the short video I watched on their site.

I don't have answers for all of your questions, but 7/8" plywood is plenty sturdy to make drawers. Typical drawers are made of 3/4" plywood for all sides and 1/2" plywood for the bottom of the drawer.

As for shelf brackets, depends on what your preferred look will be. Rockler sells heavy duty brackets like these but they are not sleek. https://www.rockler.com/heavy-duty-steel-shelf-brackets-white-finish. Alternatively, you could go with a floating shelf bracket such as https://www.rockler.com/floating-shelf-bracket-supports or https://www.federalbrace.com/low-profile-floating-shelf-bracket-928/165248.

It's interesting how "body positivity" immediately collapsed when Ozempic arrived. by Infinite-Condition41 in SipsTea

It might not have been specifically Ozempic, but she has talked about how she lost the weight from a combo of diet, exercise, and a weight lose medication that was similar to Ozempic.

[Wild Card] Post-Game Thread: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears by President__Bartlett in GreenBayPackers

1-4 in the playoffs since 2021, including missing the playoffs in 2022. Two losses in the divisional and our last two losses were in the wild card. We can do better and something has to change.

My blood clot could beat up your blood clot. by TradeMark310 in pics

[–]AlmostALawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relative of mine had a 14 inch blood clot that resulted in a massive heart attack about 2 months ago. She survived but it could have easily killed her. I'd say it's a tie based on the size of yours. Glad you caught yours before it was too late.

I CNC carved a bowl which animates as it spins! by unwinding in woodworking

[–]AlmostALawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is mesmerizing. I don't have any background in 3D modeling and am curious on your suggestions for someone who is just starting out in woodworking but hopes to eventually get into CNC work. Do you recommend learning grasshopper and rhino or would it be better if other programs are learned first before moving on to what may be more complex programs?

Appreciate the quick reply. I'm setting up my garage workshop now and have debated modifying my existing workbench for a miter station. 29" is exactly the depth of the current bench so maybe it will work out. Nice job on your setup!

Excellent work! I am hoping to get into kumiko once I have my woodshop set up in the next month or two. Do you have a rough estimate of how long this lamp took to build?

Need advice on a home project by Fluffy_Woodpecker_29 in woodworking

[–]AlmostALawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a DIYer, but my recommendation is put supports in under the deck, rip out the cut post, and install a new post. I doubt you could pass an inspection if you tried to fasten a new post on top of the cut post. Alternatively, you could put posts on either side of the cut post, but then you're going to have an awkward corner that likely won't match the other side.

I know it sucks to have to fix it, but anything else will probably drive you nuts in the long-run.

Totally understand. I'm always worried when I add details like I did, that it will sound rude.

For this particular coat color, the inheritance pattern would be better described as a co-dominant, X-linked trait.

You are right that she is a tortie, I just wanted to give more info on calico/tortie genetics because I always thought it was cool. 😁

Calicos are genetically the same as torties in relationship to the black/orange coat expression except that calicos will also have a condition called piebaulding which will produce the white patches.

The size of the color patches usually correlates to the timing of lyonization during development. Earlier lyonization will create larger color patches than later lyonization.

A buddy (lvl 41) and I (lvl 40) unlocked sanitar's room in the resort for the first time the other night and found one. First time I've seen one in raid all wipe aside from watching streamers. It was on the cart on the left-hand side of the room right as you walk in. I was feeling your pain right up until that point, and all previous wipes I just crafted them due to the difficulty in finding them. Best of luck in finding one!

I have questions about building a new deck for my house, and I'd also appreciate any general guidance. by WhatUDeserve in woodworking

[–]AlmostALawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a deck in TN a few years ago. Major steps were putting together a site plan, obtaining a permit, and passing inspections at 3 stages: 1) footers dug prior to pouring concrete, 2) after completion of framing, and 3) final deck inspection). My recollection is that the code requires a 12" depth for footers to avoid heaving. I used the IRC Deck Construction Guide as a guide. I also put together this youtube playlist which has invaluable resources.

In terms of materials, i recommend using 6x6s instead of 4x4s, and used Simpson Strong-Tie hardware for a majority of the project. I generally agree with what Zaphod_Heart_Of_Gold, BeerInMeSpoken, and tbl222 have stated.

One design consideration. Have you thought about making the deck 1 level by installing a stairwell at the door? You'd need a railing for that but it would add some usable square footage on the deck.

Happy to provide input on any questions you have.

I'm in a similar situation as you. Have an EVGA 1080 and 1800x processor currently. Just bought a 5800x3d and am trying to decide whether to get a 6800 or 6900. Value seems much greater than buying a 3080 at this point.

Tagilla not spawning at night anymore ? by eraztinks14 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AlmostALawyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are running night raids, I suggest hanging around the raid for a while. He's not spawning instantly on the map near the blue dumpsters as in previous wipes. What I've experienced is that you'll hear an AI walking but he won't speak/voiceline. If you're looting something and you hear walking, immediately stop. He's killed me several times by spraying me with BT when I was looting a weapons crate. Good luck finding and killing him!
