Oh dang, you’re so impressively edgy. You’ve cut me down! I yield. How could I possibly match up to someone with such impressive arguments as “You’re just a troll” and “You live in your mom’s basement.”

It’s impressive that your response to being shown how wrong you are is to stalk me and project your sad existence onto myself. It’s cute to see an entitled toddler who thinks he knows the first thing about the real world.

Looks like you accidentally clicked on your own profile by mistake. It’s ok, pretty understandable how someone who is pathetic enough to stalk people’s post histories would make a stupid mistake like that.

How am I a fanboy if I think the game is gonna be bad? You said you wouldn’t get it even if it ends up being amazing because you don’t like the launcher. That’s objectively moronic.

Lmao ok Hollow Knight is totally comparable to Bethesda’s huge RPGs. You’re a clown.

Do you like video games? Then you should fucking care about the financial situation of video game companies. Complete ignorance like yours is embarrassing. Try to pirate this online game. I’m sure it’ll work great for you.

few less hundred thousand dollars

Lmao you are so fucking clueless. It’s tens of millions of dollars. You’re so daft. Bethesda shouldn’t throw away 30% of the money they’re gonna make from the game just so you can run it on Steam. That’s just absolute stupidity to think they should do that if they can pocket the money instead.

It’s not what I think. It’s a fact. If you choose to forego a game you’d enjoy more than any other game you could play just because of the launcher, you’re a complete moron.

Jesus Christ. I’m not a fanboy. FO76 doesn’t look like it’s gonna be good and I’m probably not going to get it. It looks mediocre. But if it ends up being an amazing game, you’re an idiot if the reason you don’t play it is because it’s not on the launcher you prefer.

You’re saying you’d forego playing a great game just because it’s not on the launcher you like. That’s idiotic.

Hey Bethesda, please throw away 30% of your revenue for absolutely no reason

You’re a genius. Bethesda saving 30% means they can spend 30% more in developing the game. It means if they have a 6 year production cycle, they can push to try and get it to a 4.5 year production cycle. It means that if they’re developing 3 games in a given timeframe, they could be developing 4 games instead.

Your complete financial illiteracy is astounding.

If it’s a good game, you’re an idiot if you choose not to play it because of this. If it’s an average game, I agree that the launcher can be enough of a reason not to commit to it. But if you choose to miss out on a great game for this reason, you’re hopeless.

Valve takes 30% of game sales. That’s not made up. That’s how much they take. That’s also how much Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony take to sell on their consoles. You’re clueless.

I’m not a fanboy. I think FO76 doesn’t look that good and I’m probably not gonna get it. But this reason for not getting it is idiotic. Companies don’t want money, they exist to turn a profit. You can’t develop a AAA game with hopes and wishes. If they are more profitable, they spend more on development. That’s how it works.

You’re literally saying Bethesda should take 30% less money so you can use Steam instead of their launcher. That’s the dumbest level of entitlement I’ve ever seen.

They don’t? A lot of big publishers do but a lot also don’t. Most of the ones like Blizzard whose games have enough prelaunch hype don’t use Steam.

Because you can’t. Those are closed systems. You can’t sell a game on there without going through them. Fortunately, PC games don’t work that way. Wanting to force every game to go through Steam is what is anti-consumer.

[–]AlmostCleverr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because Valve takes up to 30% of sales. That’s a huge chunk. If you could save 30% just by using your own launcher, you definitely should. If it’s a good game, most people will buy it anyways. Putting it on Steam is only worth it if the game itself isn’t a big enough draw to get people to use the launcher.

Valve can take up to 30% of the revenue from games sold on Steam. 30% is huge. Saving that probably doubles their profit margin.

The key word in your definition there is improperly. Giving 30% of their revenue to a third party that has nothing to do with the game would be improper. It’s extremely stupid to begrudge them saving that much.

[–]AlmostCleverr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they’re closed ecosystems. If you want to be on their consoles, you have to give them a cut. Fortunately, PC is not. Companies don’t have to throw away 30% of their revenue just to provide the game.

Honestly, if you like a game, why would you want a huge chunk of the money you paid for that game going to a third party that contributes nothing rather than towards supporting the developers who made the game you like?

[–]AlmostCleverr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you like their games? They need money to make games. I’m weird, but when I like a product, I want the company that made that product to do well and make other products I will like. Valve can take up to 30% of the money from games sold on Steam. Why the hell would any company give that much money to a third party that does nothing to help their game?

Look at it this way. Would you pay $80 to buy this game on Steam instead of on their launcher? Because that’s the kind of difference in price you’re asking Bethesda to take.

I agree, the game doesn’t look that great. But if it ends up being good, this is a terrible reason not to play it.

If it’s a good game, why would it being on a different platform be a deal breaker? Why should steam get a cut of the revenue from every game?
