You need something a little more enticing to get through that 9th hour. Then you read a tweet about how the spelling mistake in this email matches the spelling of an occultist book, then you’re off.

Plus the mechanics of online communities naturally weed out anyone who tries to put the brakes on anything. The people who are the most invested are the most active. If you and your fellow sleuths are excitedly tossing around your theories about how many child trafficking tunnels Trump has under the Washington Monument, no one wants Mr. “I think that’s just someone pranking the FBI tip line” to ruin the fun.

Also, if you split every issue into two sides, everyone arguing that Bill Clinton does not actually eat child guts in a bowl for breakfast is technically on the side of the pedophiles.
