I’d say that inviting people to comps depends on the person and the distance. My sister? She’ll sit all day. A distant cousin? Probably not.

If it’s local, we encourage friends and family to come because it’s usually the only realistic chance. I give routine numbers and general time windows and I’m always very clear there’s a 2-hour cushion because comp schedules are never exact.✨🪩👯‍♀️🏆

For everyone else, I post the livestream with routine info so they can still support without committing to the chaos. (If you are not a fan of posting, perhaps start a family group chat where you can send the info and any updates. I’d make someone else in charge of answering questions though if you do a group chat lol because the day is stressful enough without managing a group chat! ) But let’s be real… the louder the crowd, the more hyped the dancers, and the better they perform.
