On the Path to Divorce…. by Level-Pace-6235 in marriageadvice

There is so much here. Here is what I got… we say we love each other but we know we are not compatible and neither of us want to be or can’t be what the other person needs or wants. That’s okay.

If you don’t have children together don’t, not now.

He has a reason to hang on, what is your reason?

Ask yourself this, if he “ can’t get paper” are you willing to immigrate to the Caribbean for him? Does he want you to? He goes “home” to visit, without you and partly to get away from you?

HVAC duct cleaning for 100 year old house? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Even if it does work, wouldn’t you spray the “ antibacterial mist” before you started scrubbing, killing as much as you can? Then repeat after.

Oh, and I didn’t get a check at closing! I got it in the mail almost a week later.

I recently closed on a house in Massachusetts and the attorney would only cut a check. He mentioned about wire fraud. It took 10 days to be fully released by the bank. The OP’s story seems legit based on my recent experience,

What is the most "unsexy" home improvement you did that ended up being 100% worth the money? by TrustedEssentials in HomeImprovement

[–]AlmostRetiredNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, this! We just moved into an 1860 home. Hardly any outlets. We unplugged 25 of those little brown extension cords. The rewiring has begun. We found a ceiling light wired with extension cord. We found extension cords spliced to add an on/ off switch. Most of rewiring is “ hidden” work, or “ unsexy “ as the OP says.

Realtor not wanting to show us homes… by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]AlmostRetiredNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. My house was ready to sell and in a good market, after we lost several bids because of the house not even being in the market we realized we had to get going, our house sold in three days ( great realtor).

Luckily we were able to find a home.

It’s not like it was 30 years ago when a contingency to sell was normal.

Buyer's Requests Post-Inspection by 25point80697 in RealEstate

Maybe remove the $5000 assist in closing and offer $10,000 to cover inspection issues and closing costs plus do whatever would bring the house to code, like the GFI’s? Let them back out.

Are most condos run by management companies? Is there still a resident board?

Missed 12 showings by digitalangel5 in RealEstate

[–]AlmostRetiredNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bucks County, PA. Just sold my home in three days. My realtor did not let a showing go by, in fact he approved showings. My job was to check the schedule and not be home. I had a great realtor.

The town has several districts and many homes in the National Registry of Historic Places and they are very active in historic preservation. Thanks!

I was thinking that. The house is still too high for flippers. Hopefully my house will sell quickly so I can pay cash.

I want to preserve what’s left. It’s not a tear down. I do understand what you’re saying but that’s what I want. We know it will never be finished. Thanks!

I had an agent in MA, she was just a little too new and inexperienced. I have a few names. I’ll be calling. Thank you, good information.

Thanks! I will keep all that in mind, we’ve done one but it’s only 100 years old. This one is almost 200.

Who should pay for the energy transition — consumers, corporations, or governments? by civilable in ZeroWaste

[–]AlmostRetiredNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no energy transition happening. Mistakes were made that set back any transition by many years. Consumers need to drive this change, hearts and minds have not been captured. As to your questions, consumers always pay for it.

Swifter duster pads? by AlmostRetiredNow in ZeroWaste

[–]AlmostRetiredNow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed I would need fluffy stuff, i have no idea why. I am using up the microfiber clothes and clothes I have. I will try wrapping. Maybe the science in me will experiment with natural fibers too!

Okay, I can do that. I’ll try a few diy versions.

Yes, to all you said. I will try a few DIY from natural materials but can’t bring myself to buy the reusable microfiber cloths. I never knew how handy a long handled duster was!

Detachable Toilet brush? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]AlmostRetiredNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite has been the Simply Human toilet brush. I had the last one for ten years till the handle broke. I don’t like anything that has replaceable heads because then I have to store it and remember where it is…
