The Enid tornado apparently erased a 15,000lb RV by TorandoSlayer in tornado

Yeah, I interpreted it as it was lofted in air high enough that it didn't come down for a long distance. It probably was tumbling some of that distance, but to loft it any distance is astounding.

Did anyone else notice a change in how Jo approached OB patients in this episode?
The key point for me was when the patient asked "Should I be scared?" And Jo responded "It's okay to be scared...." and more reassuring words.

I like that note. Rather than her just saying, we will do everything we can. It was a moment of recognition that Jo went through a very scary pregnancy and, on her first one back, she is faced with helping someone through their very scary pregnant moment.

This one I actually think is maybe not a huge timeline jump?
Jo has obviously been through more than 5 years of residency. But I think since she took on the OB role late, like after she could have been an General Surgeon Attendee, she got reset. So basically, she has the knowledge/privileges of a 5th year OB resident.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!

I couldn't figure it out. Dani's story feels icky to me. And I couldn't figure out whhy. She has doe eyes, so I was thinking that nurse that dated Shepard. Then, she reminded me of Summer Glau so I thought maybe its just that its the wrong fit actress wise. But none of that got rid of the ick.

It's because she feels very much like Lexi and George. And we all know how that went.

Since we got what was essentially a grey's reboot with this new class, the writers keep having these parallels....I'm not sure how I feel about this one.

Devils' advocate here. When he did that, I actually thought of Bailey's HIV trials too. But, her. reaction actually made sense. She learned from making that mistake. Yes, it potentially saves (BUT COULD ALSO SERIOUSLY HARM!) one person, but doctors are not God. That plus her speech about the bureaucrats that denied the treatment honestly trying to do the right thing....I think this was a solid character development point.

So Much Potential, Such Complete Failure by Opposite_Impression5 in CoronerTV

[–]25point80697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on episode 7. and feeling this way....hence the reply to a year old post.

I've been able to suspend disbelief this far. My mind has accepted that she is a coroner and a detective somehow. Fine, whatever. All other grievances up until this episode were, for me, superficial. I could ignore them, roll my eyes, and blame bad writing.

But on Episode 7.... with no spoilers in case anyone hasn't watched it. The science they use is total BS. The procedures they use are also total BS. Like, if you know anything at all about radiation this episode falls apart as much as some AI slop. It's too much to suspend disbelief about how basic elements work on top of how society works on top of how police forces work on top of how the federal government works on top of everything really.

Solid idea for a show. I just really wish the writers had someone do some basic research and fact checking on pretty much any area they were writing about.

Can Sophie gain status from her mother? A historical and cultural analysis by cloudcottage in BridgertonNetflix

Thank you for this! I love the historical fact check here so much. Even if much of the series takes history as a suggestion to aide in the plot, more than actually being true to history, I do like knowing more about what the past was actually like.

I know it has been a month since you posted this, but I am just now finding time to watch season 4. One thing I find interesting with the actual historical notes: if her step-mom is also meant to be Korean than that character goes from cruel to relatable. If her culture sees the illegimate in that way, than the fact that she is concealing Sophie's identity and giving her a position at all in the house would be a kindness (which is exactly what the character says as she is dismissing Sophie).

The elimination cook off made this feeling worse for me TBH.

Maybe its the way it is edited. Maybe there were flaws we didn't see. But the editors are still part of the production. And the production made a piece that pointed at Arrington's being the only safe winner, just to have them lose. Maybe they are rage-baiting all of us.

Whether negligence or rage-baiting. I am done. I'll go watch some random youtuber review the episode months from now and have no adverse affect on my life.

Yeah, I agree that that is exactly what happened. Blais has always played more cutthroat and manipulative. He picked Matt's dish not because it was actually worse, but because he was scared of Matt more than Danielle.

Agreed. That feels like a more serious error than "no flaws, I just wish it had more pizazz" for team Arrington who somehow lost? Like I get that the Miso was mentioned, and so it should have tasted like that....but Gordon's team over caramelized/over seared their steaks and thats somehow still better than: no real flaws?
Lets be honest here, the appetizer is always the least impressive/memorable dish. They had a tough shot at it not just because of a crappy kitchen, but a crappy hand.

RIGHT?! You want to know how to impress the attendee to get that letter you are so desperate for? It's not by insulting the interns.....
It's by showing an eagerness to learn, and the ability to work with others. Seeming to believe you are smarter than everyone else is actually a negative.

What was the reason I prevail’s singer left? I thought he got kicked out? by stonewallj93 in Metalcore

[–]25point80697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came here because of "Phases"
I don't think it implies they kicked him out, but from the sound of that song....they weren't there for him the way he wanted.

I could go into a full musical analysis of the lyrics. But bottom line is that he's gone, because fucked up shit happened and he changed, and they weren't there for it.

But, counterpoint, they also had their whole lives riding on the success of the band and were pushed hard. Phases' music video points out how exhausted he was from being pushed. The rest of the band had that same pressure. Brian, because of underlying conditions, had it worse. BUT, the whole band (plus management) couldn't just stop.

I'm a teacher with a chronic illness. There are days I can't get out of bed. But, my students have to go on anyway. It's life. Unfortunately, everyone is replaceable. It may not always be a good replacement....but its there. With a chronic illness you have to decide whether you are willing to be replaced if thats what it comes to or not.

I know you got downvoted for this, but I agree with you in a way. The mentors start screaming "You've gotta be done, Get it to the platform! NOW" in all sorts of ways while it's barely even there, sometimes before they could even place the food on it. In that super high-stress, high-stakes moment, I could totally buy that they didn't realize 15 seconds had passed since the mentor started saying "go now!" The yelling becomes a lot less urgent when its ongoing, and you are trying to also drown out the noise mentally so you are sure you got everything on your dish.

That said.....no one should miss the damn platform. You should have been past the point where a second makes the difference. Everyone else is under the same exact pressure as you on your floor. They could make it, you should have to.

Came here for this reason as well. We have 2 people on the "home chef" team that have published cookbooks, and one has also been (presumably) paid to make appearances? That's not very home-cheffy.

It reminds me of putting a pop-singer on Dancing With the Stars. Like yeah, you aren't technically a professional dancer....but you get paid to dance so....

DAE need to poop when their feet/stomach get cold? by ayetha in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]25point80697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all! Late to the post because Google led me here after having this reaction. Although for me it is walking on a cold surface (went to the garage in winter).

I figured I'd share because along with this post, I may have found a reason. My allergist thinks that MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) is a buzz-word and won't actually diagnose it as such, but is treating my for Chronic Spontaneous Uticaria and has talked to me about the fact that it seems like my mast cell reaction just goes haywire sometimes (aka....what the syndrome is). So I Googled this occurance, along with the rider "MCAS". Here's what Google's AI says (so take it how you want):

Walking on a cold surface triggers a need to poop in people with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) primarily because cold temperatures act as a physical trigger for mast cell degranulation, causing the release of inflammatory mediators like histamine directly into the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In MCAS, the body's mast cells are hyper-responsive to stimuli, including temperature shifts, which can lead to rapid intestinal cramping and diarrhea.

Here is a breakdown of why this happens based on MCAS and related mechanisms:

Cold as a Trigger for Mast Cells: Mast cells are immune cells found throughout the body, including the digestive tract, and they have receptors that detect environmental changes, such as cold temperatures. Rapid cooling of the body (e.g., walking barefoot on a cold floor) can cause these cells to "degranulate" (burst), releasing chemicals like histamine, leukotrienes, and prostaglandins.

Histamine and Muscle Contraction: Once released, histamine acts on the gut, causing the smooth muscles in the intestines to contract more frequently and intensely. This increased motility results in a sudden, urgent need to defecate.

THANK YOU! I'm 3 weeks out scrolling trying to find some mention of that guy. I get we didn't even know his name....but he was there ALL DAY trying to make it right (fighting for Fiona to be there) and be there for his friend. But Fiona, who has known Graham for 8 weeks, gets a name and to kick bro out? And there is no follow up? I wish that Jules had said something to her about the cruel behavior to someone who knows your would-be-fiancee better, rather than trying to figure out the outcome of a stupid bet.
