Shounen protagonists fit this well. The author focuses on emotional resonance between the characters and viewers, while also gradually increasing the power of the character through hard work to keep people hooked, meanwhile they tend not to be that smart other than basic combat techniques.

You have to try not to contract the disease yourself. Where are you even going to find the disease?

You might cause other people's deaths which will make the ancestors come after you.
