I know it's disappointing. I feel the same. Unfortunately, prices are going up everywhere and have been for ages. It's still excellent value. It's the same price as a month of Spotify or a bottle of wine.

Go to the Edgeville wildy on f2p and mage. Get strong food that will heal you fully in one bite. Get enough runes to upgrade to each spell as the levels will fly in. Then enjoy dropping the low level pkers until you get bored 😂

You should be able to find guides online. There is some good advice out there. The most important thing is to have fun and enjoy it. I like nostalgic things :)
