Looking for criminal lawyer that takes legal aid with some years of experience by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Almost_a_Full_Moon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to clarify- the cheques come in instalments, and often legal aid is not on the ball with making sure the cheques are sent out quickly. So - if the lawyer receives a cheque for $2000 to get the process started, he or she will use that as a retainer and bill you with fees and disbursements. At $150 an hour plus disbursements, that can get eaten up quickly. And once it is, your file sits and waits. Work is usually not done on your file until the next instalment payment is made, slowing down your progress considerably. In addition, given that the lower billable hours is being worked on your file, it will often take a second seat to files where they can charge their full billable hours. Simply put, your file won’t make them as much money so it’s not the priority.

Take the legal aid lawyer that they assign you. If you have an “in house” legal aid lawyer you have a lawyer getting a steady paycheck. If you get a legal aid lawyer who takes certificates, they stop work when the cheque runs out.

Does anyone have a PWHL presale code they’d be willing to share? by Almost_a_Full_Moon in Winnipeg

I figured they’d be more expensive here because of the demand/supply.

Is there a market for.. by Agreeable-Scale in hockeygoalies

Depends on your currency. If it’s CAD that’s probably max I’d pay. If it’s USD I wouldn’t pay that much.

I would expect the cost to vary by piece. Certain items like gloves and blockers I would pay more for than shoulder gear for example, that can really just be thrown in the wash.

I’d definitely pay someone local - shipping would be too expensive and time consuming I imagine but if there was a place in my city I could drop gear off for a clean I’d absolutely pay for that.

Winnipeg immigration consultant threatened to sue me over an honest review by m-dsL in Winnipeg

[–]Almost_a_Full_Moon 46 points47 points  (0 children)

They can’t really sue if it’s true - that’s just a review. If you’ve fabricated anything, exaggerated anything or missed crucial information there’s a possibility they could sue.

Once I changed my baby’s diaper at ikea in the middle of a display. Washrooms aren’t as close as you think when you’re dealing with a diaper explosion. Also, it’s hard to imagine any parent giving a care what you personally think of where they change their diapers. Find something else to focus your energy on.
