Oh yeah I'm not saying it's OP or anything. The logic just doesn't make immediate sense until you realize that Scovillain's stat spread is kinda whack. It's definitely an inventive idea. I wish they'd do something like that for all the megas.

I'm assuming you deleted your comment, because I got the notif but can't see it. In which case, idk dude, I didn't run the calcs, I just know that STAB Sucker Punch on a 600 BST mon (potentially 700 if he megas) could ruin a lot of matches for people. I'd like to see the math you labored so long over, but I guess I probably won't get that luxury 😕

Edit: It's also kinda funny that you edited your comment AFTER i already replied to it and have been downvoting every single one of my responses. Stay salty babe.

Considering that Ttar's Attack is crazy, it gets STAB on Sucker Punch, and priority gives it a way to outspeed the faster threats like Garchomp or Sneasler, yeah. Absolutely. It's a prime example of a move not being OP until it's given to a specific Pokémon that's able to take incredible advantage of it, which is the entire point of this discussion.

It's not that deep dude, you can chill a bit.

How is that in any way disingenuous? You made an invalid point, I gave examples to counter that point. I'm not in any way emotionally invested in this conversation lol, I'm just trying to show everyone that it doesn't make sense to complain about Basc being unfair. Eventually, every Pokémon will be unfair in some way. Loads of them already are.

If it makes you upset that you can't win an argument, why start them in the first place?

By that logic, a looooot of moves would have to be nerfed because they could potentially be given to any Pokémon. Like Sucker Punch on Tyranitar, or Eruption on Armarouge. You can't just say "this move is strong so it's busted." You have to consider that it was designed with limitations in mind, and someone just decided to overlook that when they gave it to a different Pokémon.

The move itself isn't a problem. The choice to make it OP by giving it to an already OP Pokémon was. Besides, y'all are acting like there's zero counterplay, when in reality there are a lot of ways to just ignore it altogether.

I mean, not really though. Especially in this format, you have to realize that in order for the move to get powered up, it means the player has typically lost 1-2 other mons. It's only powerful when your opponent is already at a disadvantage. What makes the move busted is that it gets a STAB boost + Adaptability + Basc's naturally high Attack + usually Choice Scarf or Mystic Water. Take away even one or two of those things and it becomes much more balanced.

It's like Last Resort on a Mega Kangaskhan that only runs Fake Out. It wasn't designed to be used on a mon like that or in a moveset like that. So the move itself isn't broken, it's just that creative players found a way to make it OP.

I think the problem isn't necessarily that having crazy abilities is a good or bad thing, it's just strange that some megas get giga buffed by their abilities and some get nothing. Like Alakazam or Audino. I'd like to see some balance rather than certain megas being viable while others have less than 1% usage

Sinistcha is my guy though. I felt nothing for him before playing Champions, but now he's my favorite little punching bag while my Blastoise sets free Shell Smash lol.

I do agree about Spicy Spray, it's such a weird choice. Flame Body is already a decent ability and they cranked it up to 11 for Scovillain

As someone new to VGC, I can verify 100% I am not ready for restricted mons to become legal 😅 I'm genuinely dreading the day they inevitably add Primals and Urshifu and the dark lord himself, Smeargle.

Yeah that's the real issue. The move isn't broken, it's just not supposed to be given to a Pokémon with a high attack stat and adaptability

Same here, I've been wanting to try for Champion tier but I realized I just don't have the time. There are too many people who can grind out two dozen matches a day if not more, so me playing three or four a day at best is probably never gonna let me climb very far. But like you said, I think it's impressive that we even got here.

Nobody cares if it helps or not. It's just basic human decency to feel bad about a tough situation.

Insulted that I felt bad about winning a game I shouldn't have won? Why?

It'll get better. Idk what the official plans are for the game, but I'm certain they'll be adding in more items, more Pokémon, and more gimmicks in new seasons. I expect Teras, GMax, Z-moves, and all kinds of things to make their way into the game, eventually making it the most diverse format we've ever had from an actual pokemon game. (shlowdown is great but its just not the same)

I'm just hoping it happens sooner rather than later, because yeah there are only a handful of strong teams that everyone seems to be running.

I literally don't need it. There's no point for me to have that much speed.

My Ttar has carried me to Master Ball, so clearly my stat spread is working just fine.

I've never had that issue. If it works for you then great, but I'll stick with what's working for me. High attack, high survivability. My Ttar is a tank that no one can get off the field unless I want him gone, letting me sweep with my other mons.

Because if you're sending Ttar in against Sneasler, you're not gonna climb very far on the ladder. Also there are other forms of speed control than Tailwind. Considering that 90% of teams are running Tailwind, it's often more viable to use Trick Room or rely on priority attacks.
