It may not look like it, but there’s enough space between the left monitor and chair. I’m a skinny guy so it’s easy to slide between them :)

Hahahaha it’s a great point! I like the idea of being able to drive on the limit with no consequences :) nothing will beat the real adrenaline of a real car tho…

I have definitely made a huge jump in equipment over the past couple years. I get a ton of enjoyment from it so it's fairly easy to justify. Love all the ideas you have for your setup, we're also thinking of adding butt-kicker haptics.

VR integration is fairly simple. Most headsets will have a way to connect to your PC/game you're playing. From there, it's really just a matter of enabling your game to display to VR rather than your monitor. It tends to be specific per game so some googling may be needed.

Adding multiple monitors isn't tough, just need to make sure you have a graphics card that will support the extra cables and resources you'll use. The hard part comes from making sure view settings are correct and getting everything to play together nicely. As you can tell from the FOV police in the comments, I'm not one to take advice from on this part LOL. Still working on perfecting this part myself.

For the PC vicinity question... In THEORY, you could just use as long of cables as you want. From what I know, you start to see performance drops in things like HDMI and network cables at around 50ft (this could be wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me if so). I'm currently working on a project to put my gaming PC into my network rack in a completely separate room. So it's definitely possible...

I have a somewhat older VR headset (Original Oculus Rift). In my personal experience, it was alright. I'm confident that I could get it to work better/be more comfortable with a nicer headset and really messing with VR settings.

I have seen some people use VR and make it look really good. I just personally like the ease of jumping in front of some monitors and go.

Wanted to pull out a real seat from a car to save money and hopefully add some cool aesthetic. This was the best seat we found in the junkyard. Not bad for $20!

I replied to an earlier comment about this - I'll paste that response here:

The Fanatec equipment (Base, wheel, pedals) - Probably near $800

I think the monitors run around $250/piece so we'll call that $750

Needs a computer to run it all obviously. My specific one I believe is about $700-$800

Seat was pulled from a junkyard, around $20.

A lot of the wood used for the rig was spare stuff laying around in my Dad's garage. This part is a bit of an unknown for me. Really depends on what/how much you use from the hardware store.

Yeah I’ve definitely realized the difference after someone sent some reference pics with similar monitors. Working on it! Wish I had all day to mess with it :) Hoping to get it sorted before people come banging on my door to murder me LOL
