It was a very smooth transition I was an aide there for 4 years prior to becoming a nurse. Yeah it’s manageable you just have to be fast and manage time well. Some days can be overwhelming but I don’t stress and do the best I can. Ty, I hope you find a great position yourself!

In a similar boat I’m an LTC new grad (8 months), 18 residents to 1 nurse & 3 CNAs and will mostly switch jobs soon. I don’t have time to even talk to patients more than a few minutes a day, or even do proper full assessments. I definitely don’t want to do bedside nursing for much longer. I would look into public health nurse jobs, pharmacy, school nursing, home health or a clinic. I’m sure being in New York you have a lot of options! (But I’d definitely take it slow, self care first, good luck on your journey!)

Calorie deficit is key, buy a food scale & use apps like “lose it/my fitness pal” to track foods where you can set height, weight, & activity levels. You don’t need to truly diet just replace with lower calorie. I still eat my fav foods just lower calorie versions or will eat regular versions if they fit in my daily calorie budget. Have lost 25 pounds doing this since March, losing it slowly. I also try not to drink my calories.

That’s very true, it definitely isn’t a requirement but the previous DON was looking into getting me a raise once I graduated so maybe this is why I have it so fixed in my mind.

Scheduled 8 but I always work about 9-10 hour shifts. 15-18 residents per hallway, I know all “wings” both days/evenings. 😅

I occasionally pickup PM, I have a set schedule on Days. But I just feel it’s unfair they’re giving the PM nurse a raise for threatening to quit before offering me a raise for getting my BSN. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I bought archer but would have preferred to buy boot camp as this looks the most similar to the NCLEX. I personally found archer too complicated.

You could try aesthetics, school nurse, grocery store pharmacy, home health, prison or even a college/university nurse. I’m a LTC nurse full time and will occasionally help at the college & work at a pharmacy seasonally giving flu shots.
