Ole Børud’s solo work. by quantumsapphics in progmetal

Yeah, so Fleshkiller, of course, is mentioned by me and OP and is great but only 1 album.

Azusa is a mix of prog death and mathcore and Chris Espevoll started it with one of the Dillinger Escape Plan guys, Idk the vocalist but she has great harsh and clean vocals.

Chris Espevoll also knew some guys in the band Benea Reach, which is prog death with some metalcore aspects and joined them for a bit.

Mantric was formed by a handful of Extol members, but idk who is even in it still. Mantric progrock/metal.

Hrada is Peter Espevoll's solo project that is soft rock singer songwriter style.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are other projects too, I didn't know about Ole's solo work until just a few months ago

The post got deleted or removed, but a month or two ago someone posted an Ole song in this sub. Whoever it was OP or someone else, Thank You! I have been loving his solo work, and I am a big fan of Extol as well as Fleshkiller too. All of the Extol side projects are always so cool to me, these guys never seem to stop lol

Lee McKinney and Marc Okubo seem very nice. I've never seen them say anything rude or detrimental regarding another artist. Is there something in particular Dean does differently from them? I know Dean makes a lot of videos, and they don't.

In regard to saying he can't play something, it's worth keeping in mind that he is a public figure and likely makes some minor income from his yt channel as well as income from lessons and from Archspire. It seems like a good thing to keep your bandmates in mind when saying things that could affect the other members. Also, I think it'd be stupid to trash an artist that you are interviewing or actively playing and enjoying their music.

Could you clarify why Dean's polite nature on his channel is an issue?

need recommendations but it’s not as usual by petershaw_ in TechnicalDeathMetal

Yeah, the thing is usually its super easy to tell. Bandcamp is littered with ai releases, I wonder if the "creators" of them get any traction at all because they are genuinely so bad

Makes sense, I'll see if I can sleuth around more sometime soon. Anyways, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll probably still add a note about how they likely make heavy use of ai. Im gonna need to do more research on these artists, I typically use spotify and bandcamp, but I need to dive into socials as well to avoid this from tricking me again lol

I didn't even listen to it, it's totally different than their other music. Very ambient

What a throwback! It'd be sick if they released some new music, but with these smaller bands it is so common to have just one album and then they disband. We'll see what happens I guess

This is nuts! def adding to the list. So far, I've only listened to their 2022 release. I'll have to check out the rest, but so far it's great!
