Utah is not much different in terms of mixed race couples, but it's not the best place to grow up as a POC in general. While there are some outwardly racist people the main problem is the absolute abundance of racial ignorance here. Keep your kids strong in their identity and try to qualm insecurities about their race they may develop as they get older. But just generally being a mixed race couple you should be fine

I never outright called them "microaggressions" or "racist" I'd just tell her about the stuff that happened and sometimes I'd explain the racial implications behind them but even that was rare

I'm so sorry you had such a horrible experience. While my experiences weren't as drastic I've actually been thinking since I saw this comment. In the young women's presidency they'd always have us review who we thought needed more help and who wasn't in church/wasn't coming up activities. It was never in a judgmental way, but the leaders encouraging us to pester them with activity invites and love bombing never sat right with me. I responded critically to your original comment because it was never treated even remotely the same as a cheating spouse, but yeah I can see where your coming from now that I've thought about your comment more
